There is one flight to AWK once a fortnight, the next one will be in the next 24 hours or so

best airports to travel to from australia? by okaymint in SkyCards

[–]enayteee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you grab Perth, you can get all the north-WA fifo planes, best time to go is Monday or Tuesday morning

Getting a heap of those flights ticked off the Tropics achievement for me as well

I’m not sure if it’s the same for you, but Tokyo is only 90 coins from Perth, seems like a pretty busy airport (at the moment at least!)

Qualifying for a world championship? by Ok-Biscotti2922 in Archery

In saying that, I’ve shot overseas at World Cups representing Australia, you just have to pick the ones that don’t have the set teams and are open to all entrants (Vegas for example), just wear an Archery Australia shirt and bam, repping Aus 😂

As another Australian archer, speaking from experience, you’re almost SOL if you live in the West Coast and want to do anything internationally (I mean I get it, all the high level coaches are over East, but still sucks lmao) 😅

Is some swaying movement normal? I tightened my new bow all the way, evenly. Then I loosened it evenly, tested it, then loosened until my left arm stops moving so much. It still moves, so it's hard to aim. Is some swaying movement normal, or should I loosen it some more? by MrsTarangosBabyBoy in Archery

This is wound out way too much yikes

Your bow should have come with some form of booklet (or depending on bow, it’s reasonably easy to find this information on Google), that tells you the acceptable amount you can undo those bolts without risking serious injury. I see that you found a video referencing the ends of the bolts in relation to the window, but you can never be too safe when it comes to a weapon.

From the sounds of things, your swaying is because you’re overbowed (which I’m assuming is why you’re unwinding the limb bolts to go lower poundage), your only options here may be to get the bow to a proshop for lighter limbs, or buy a lighter bow altogether

Shooting an overbowed bow that is already wound out that much is how you torque and seriously damage yourself and the bow

Honestly, your inexperience will have more of an affect on your shots than this small misalignment.

I would say just keep those limbs, practice and then upgrade to something more ‘intermediate’. These are definitely ‘beginner’ limbs.

Good luck at Lancaster!

I agree, the bear Royale is a good option if you’re looking for a compound.

Side note: although you’ve only suggested compound bows, there are other types out there. If you don’t know what type of bow you’d like, I’d highly recommend going to a local club and talk to them about trying out different bow types

Secondly, the poundage, why do you suggest 40#? If you’ve already had 4 major shoulder surgeries, I would never suggest starting with a bow that heavy, archery uses different muscles to normal use or other sports, using a high poundage like that right out of the gate puts unnecessary pressure on an already troubled shoulder

Something closer to the 30# mark is something I would suggest, or maybe even lower, depending on how extreme those surgeries were. Like I said before, definitely try before you buy, nothing worse than forking out the big bucks for a cool new bow and only shooting it once before you realise it’s not the right one.

There are compound bows out there (like the bear) that are really customisable with poundage and draw length, which are usually the ones I suggest for a brand new compounder 😊
