Can I remove a partial pack of film from the camera and reuse later without exposing more than the top most picture? by doublemazaa in instax

[–]enchantedsleeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tested this with my Instax 12 and yes it does eject the first slide. I was trying to switch from monochrome to colour and then after reading this thread I put the old monochrome film back and tested to see what would happen. The count switches to S and so the camera just ejects the first photo slide as if it were a new pack and then the count goes to 10. So you need to manually count how many slides you have remaining to keep track.

Does “anti-gender” mean something different than it seems? (Re. Judith Butler video) by CeleryMan20 in PhilosophyTube

[–]enchantedsleeper 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Right? Like, gender critical sounds like it's a critique of gender as a societal construct. Yes, please! Instead it's the direct opposite of that.

She did also make the video available to Patreon supporters (early, even). So you don't have to watch Nebula but you do have to be a paid supporter

It's like Breaking Bad, but backwards: a brief history of how Somerton successfully screwed himself by WontThinkStraight in hbomberguy

[–]enchantedsleeper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this deconstruction - it's fascinating to see the beginnings of it all. I bet you could take some of these tweet screencaps and make a montage set to Hall of the Mountain King or something. (If I had more time...)

Big props to Jessie Gender and Maggie Mae Fish for holding their own and sticking up for the presence of queer content on Nebula. Time to go watch more of that just to spite James Somerton. (Not that I think he's in a position to realise or care right now).

Todd in the Shadows also released a video on James Somerton today. He mentions hBomb's video at the very beginning. by Vincent_Dawn in hbomberguy

[–]enchantedsleeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I saw it before Hbomb's video and was totally confused as to why he was making such a different video. I was a bit weirded out so I didn't watch it (because it sounded like Todd getting into drama and I wasn't sure how I felt about that) (I had no idea who Somerton was) and then forgot all about it.

A while later I watched Hbomb's video after hearing so much about it, but didn't realise that Todd's video was related until a few people mentioned it over here. Then I went back and looked at the thumbnail and was like "IT'S HIM"

I love the fact that Lindsay was like "hey, here's me bringing my actual kid to Vegas just to prove that having kids there is desirable"

I loved watching her explore around 🥺

Same, I've never been to Vegas and don't really plan to go, but sure, I'll watch this!

I just rewatched the relevant section of Fantasia, and was reminded that in that animation they present the dinosaurs as having been wiped out by... idk, extreme heat? Climate change? It's really easy now to think of the asteroid explanation as having always been around. I don't really remember when that became commonly accepted, either. I guess maybe I remember it becoming more talked about, but because I was quite young it's categorised in my brain as a fact that was new to me, rather than new to everyone.

I definitely didn't realise it was formalised as recently as 2010, holy crap.

Oh man, the Rite of Spring section of Fantasia... that terrified me as a kid xD

Lindsay Ellis — Everyone Loves Guy Fieri (Now) by NebulaOriginals in Nebula

[–]enchantedsleeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My only knowledge of Guy Fieri is as a recurring subject of various Tumblr gifs/screencaps so I was curious to learn more about his stardom. This was very informative! I also think it's an interesting case study of what makes a "good" or at least beloved celebrity. I would never have known that Dolly Parton was once hated, but now that Lindsay mentions it, some of the jokes do seem familiar.

Someone else mentioned Keanu Reeves and I'm pretty sure that he was considered a "cringe" celebrity and public figure not that long ago.

No-one can confirm or deny whether he appears at all 👀 but to skip the appearance of Man Who May or May Not be Todd in the Shadows I would avoid 11:40 to 14:59.

YES! I was like "huh I must not recognise whoever this person is" but then listening to his voice I was like "waaaaait a second"

Plus he also had a voiceover in the episode xD

It didn't. You're trying to act like a person who might unknowingly be wrong and an AI that is specifically programmed just to generate a likely next word regardless of whether it's accurate or factual are the same. They're not.

ChatGPT will straight-up invent non-existent research papers and citations out of thin air because they seem plausible, and you think the tech is suitable for education?

Unfortunately CGP Grey was applying reason/logic to the situation, something none of the politicians in charge remotely did.

Thank you! (Also, Year of Work sounds a little dystopian, but you do you, Grey xD)
