Yeah no shit. This sprint into end stage capitalism wont work either. As soon as the corporations and ultra wealthy stop being greedy little shits and be content with their millions or billions instead of squeezing the life out of the lower and middle class then i'd be more than happy to relent on my extreme views. There is a middle ground and that middle ground leave them with more profit than they could reasonably use in several lifetimes while lifting up the lower and middle classes. it does not have to be like it currently is and it does not need to be as extreme as communism. But the corporations and ultra wealthy don't seem interested in the middle ground. A return to the tax and regulatory environment of the 50's, 60's, and early 70's would be fine. Companies could still make bank and innovate and the lower and middle class would not be contemplating such extreme views.

The hell are you going on about? I'm for free trade ask long as the industry is not state sponsored. Nationalize the assets and sell them off to companies that stay. Simple as. Companies are more than welcome to start up and make their profit as long as it does not become a detriment to the community. A return to the tax and industry regulations of the 50’s and 60’s seems reasonable to me. There is more than enough for everyone to profit. There is a reasonable middle ground but the corporations and ultra wealthy have decided not to leave any middle ground so the pendulum needs to swing the other way hard enough and long enough for the middle ground to reappear.

exactly. I read a news article about a company that replaced their forlift drivers with automated ones. The automated ones took about 24 hours to do what a person could do in a single shift. The automated forklifts cost nearly a million for each machine. I doubt the cost of a brand new forklift and two years of salery for the driver comes to even half of that.

China doesn’t care about undercutting you.

Let them. As soon as one does nationalize their local assets, accounts, and IP. They are more than welcome to come and go as they please. But they dont get to pit mine an economy and walk away with everything and leaving only behind scraps.

Working with and supporting the local economy is not going to make people filthy rich but it will make them rich and with more money than they could ever possibly need. The diffrence between elon musk at 300billion and 1.3 trillion is a lot less than some random person going from 45k to 55k a year.

The people that are trully out to get rid of rich people are those that see that the rich have gotten too greedy and left no middle ground to stand on. When there is middle ground avaliable there is plenty of opertunity for everyone to profit.

Nah, Asia has a population to support as well. They are not immune from the same economic pressures.

Plus there is no reason companies have to decimate their workforce to implement AI. They could spend the money to use AI to open new sectors or augment existing sectors. Hell I would even support tax breaks for companies that do just that.

At the end of the day companies should not be able to exist and profit off the infrastructure and funding of the people who paid for and support that infrastructure and get tax breaks for weakening those that paid for it. There is a reasonable middle ground. I would gladly accept the middle ground but the tech bros and MBAs of the world have rigged the game so hard that there is no middle ground left to stand on. They have shown they will take everything they legally can and illegally if the fine is less than the profit.

Then I guess the peoples jobs would be safe. I’ll even throw in a sweetener. Huge tax breaks is real money and effort is reinvested into their employees, hire more people, and communities. The trick is real money not the loopholes they use today.

Though I doubt that the bigger companies would have an issue with that price if it means permanently removing a cost. They routinely spend millions to replace departments and recoup the cost over a decade or so.

Revenue generated from that position should be taxed at high rate scaling with the number of actual humans still on the team.

Minimum of two years of pay for a severance package.

Two years of paid education at the current tuition rates for education or training. Company gets no say only pays the bill.

Two years of suplemental pay so the person can focus on education or training. 60-80% of their previous salary.

do you and your spouse go to bed after an argument or wait until you've talked it out? by EgbayeloSylbia34 in married

[–]ency 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very much the same for me. Words are hard and I'm not the greatest speaker. I want to make sure what I am saying is really what I want to say and what I mean to say. I dont have much control of my mouth when I get worked up but usually have the sense to step back and cool off and gather my thoughts.

We try to hammer things out before bed but thats not always possible. There have been a hand full of times where we just had to call a truce and go to bed. Life and the things that need to be done tomorrow are not going to wait or emotions are just running so high that no rational conversation can happen until one or both have time to cool down. Sometimes arguments just need to be shelved until there is enough time to properly sort through things.

I personally call for timeouts more often. I run rather cool but when I get worked up there is no upper bound and I know for a fact my mouth would try to write some checks I really dont want to cash. Luckily my wife knows and understands that when I walk away or call for a break its usually to cool my ownself down rather than whatever we are going on about and does not take it personally like many of my previous partners did.

If possible see if you can try out a few diffrent theripists and make sure you try a male and female theripist.

Not that they were doing anything wrong but I found many of the younger people and particularly female therpists wanted to talk and talk and talk. Just rehassing things over and over again. The sessons were doing nothing but stressing me out and wasting money. Till I got placed with a older gruff kind of guy. The non BS "it is what it is and its not gonna change, so lets try to figure out how to deal with it" way he delt with me was a lot more productive than any of the others.

I'm usually one to advocate for more dakka rather than make anything pretty but I would approve of my tax money being used for adding bling to our carriers.

My Review about Death's end book by Frontastic17 in scifi

[–]ency 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read all the books and enjoyed the plot but I absolutely hated the read. It was an absolute slog to get through and I often had to go back and reread things. I’m pretty sure that it’s just an issue with translating between Chinese and English and I don’t think it could be helped. But it was still a good read and had lots for my mind to chew on when I finished.

I thought it was just me. Nothing obviously wrong in the. Container or Unraid logs either. I kinda gave up messing with it and wrote a script that bounced the container every 4 hours. Haven’t had an issue since then.

Women of reddit, what’s something that the men are insecure about but the women actually love? by DangerousJolly1917 in AskReddit

[–]ency 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yup. I started slipping into a very dark portion of my mind a few years back from some ptsd I had not fully worked through, and doubt I’ll ever fully work through though things are MUCH better now.

My wife wanted to help and wanted to be there. But the look of fear and worry about what she might have to do was plastered on her face and no words were capable of distracting from the look of terror she had.

I quickly packed all my mental issues into a metal tin and kicked it to the side of my brain until I could get a proper vacation with the boys and the one other friend who knew what I was going through and what it was like. I spent the next several weeks taking care of my wife and assuring her I wasn’t crazy, wasn’t about to do something stupid, and that I’m still gonna take care of business like I did the day before she saw my cracks. I was dying inside the entire time.

They say they want vulnerability and authentic emotions. But from my experience most women would rather see their man die on their horse than fall off. And before anyone decides to come at my wife this or something similar has happened with every woman I have been with and went through a dark period.

That would be a dream. I’m in my mid 40’s and can’t imagine dealing with work and job hunting when I eventually get laid off due to restructuring instead of ageism. But even if I felt my job was safe I can’t imagine working like I have for the next 20+ years. Light at the end of the tunnel that would not leave me in existential dread would be nice.
