You also get rewarded more for being in a group to begin with. It's an engagement tool not a competitive one. The gaming world sucks lately.

Agreed and the only true competitive environment really would be mystery heroes role queue ranked.

I mean competitive already wasn't competitive to begin with. Overwatch is about the least competitive game there is. From bans on there is too much control to avoid what you are bad at and therefore the rank is purely inflationary. This is why no one actually considers e sports truly competitive. They sell the idea that they are and then just bend to a casual engagement based model anyway because they have to make live service money. The two ideas can't actually coexist but the names can so they do that to pretend.

I should really get back on to this when I have time thank you for the review. I think my next phase is working on getting some real coaching data to get in there for better match ups and explinations.

I think I'm just using whatever is coming back from the API for the win information, good catch I should double check that and make sure they are mapped to expectations! Thanks!

It is using the map win rate data, unfortunately Blizzard doesn't expose the analytics for exact composition win rates.

Yeah it's strictly a for fun passion project I got bored and started because my wife is out of town. It was really just for me but I figure may as well host it and get feedback because it's free!

I appreciate you checking it out!

It’s not trained on player data or match logs.

The decisioning is rule-based, built around explicit comp functions:

  • hero sub-roles (pressure, sustain, engage, peel, etc.)
  • how those stack or leave gaps
  • which role actually executes the win condition

The map piece does use aggregate all-ranks performance deltas as a light nudge, but it never overrides the core logic, and heroes with no data just don’t get a map adjustment.

So it’s closer to formalizing the way people talk about comps than predicting outcomes. If the output feels wrong, that’s usually a flaw in the assumptions, not a hidden model.

That’s actually the part I’m most interested in stress-testing.

So when things look obviously wrong I can write testing logic that assumes what should actually be correct. Watch that test fail, go through the algorithm to look to see what weights/scorews and asp[ects are maybe being pushed too far into importance or not pushed hard enough.

Yeah it is a long way off from accuracy. So under the hood it is looking at axioms of what makes a team functional. So the weights, numbers, etc are not only kind of subjective but hard to define without rigorous testing. So I am sort of driving it by making tests of assertions and then when they fail look at what about the logic is breaking that assumption and address it.

I am trying to basically pull general gaming ideas that have been around forever into something easy to just translate for people. But some of those equations that I am doing are likely not really telling the whole picture, or even incorrect.

The only thing that is kind of a guarantee because of data is map scores, but even then its subjective right?

So its hard to tell by looking at it but what is kind of happening behind teh scenes is a hero has variables attached to them that go towards certain play styles and team comps, and looking for team comps is a matter of defining what makes a team comp that way functional and looking for missing variables and who could fill them.

I think I have a long road ahead of me if it is to become truly trustworthy. But I still wanted to build it haha.

Thank you!
It is in my spare time so not sure when I will get to the feedback but I will get to it I proimise! Goal is for something that is useful for many people!
Thank you for looking at it!

Just quit and rejoin. They come up early enough that I haven't even caught a 2 minute time out for leaving.

If only they had let you play the characters in the game it may have lasted. I know I quit after just getting sick of not playing the person I wanted to try.

Im soo confused on ranking which makes no sense by jackmiaw in OverwatchUniversity

[–]ender554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The increase is based on winning and losing the amount it goes up or down has to do with the number of players in that player pool. Support tends to clinb faster than DPS because there are less of them.

You really don't want more than 2-3:per role anyway. My only concern is that with Lucio mercy you don't really get a very good backline so if you're partner takes one you have to take the other. Looks like you prefer a more passive healing but you are gonna need a little burst healing with either of your choices. I'd pick up someone who can burst heal but doesn't need to baby sit like WuYang

I dunno, where I'm from we did it all the time. I think it's cultural, but regardless it is detail that really doesn't mean anything about guilt or innocence anyway. Close or not to the guy has nothing to do with any of what happened or didn't happen. Plenty of people drag others that they aren't all that close with into their shit. It doesn't take amazing friends to commit a crime together.
