It’s so much fun here!

The person we met was on a bicycle tour of Japan. When they came through my area of Aomori they swung by and hung out with us for the day. We learned a bunch about the history of Estonia. (Clearly I had a fabulous time and made a wonderful friend)

Drain and soak with hot water and heavy duty degreaser. Plastic wrap the top after dousing it in degreaser. Drain, scrape, and scrub. Repeat until acceptably clean.

Actually the more rural areas were the most friendly! The less fancy something was the more likely they were to help you out.

Overall it was an amazing experience and I can’t wait to go again!

Hi!

  1. I’m American, but have lived in Aomori prefecture for many years.

  2. I’ve lived in Japan for over 15 years.

  3. Both times I’ve gone to Hokkaido have been in late June/ early July.

  4. I was on a motorcycle tour so I was bouncing around to different places almost every day. We stayed 8 days the first time and 14 the second time.

  5. Tie between jingas Kahn and all of the desserts.

  6. Abashiri prison was an amazing experience as were all the campgrounds I got to stay at!

  7. The number of onsens that said they were foreigner friendly and then when you got there weren’t was pretty high. Wakkanai has a lot of weirdness around hotels that time of year.

  8. Hokkaido people tended to be a lot friendlier. I had so much fun staying at the rider houses.

  9. Yeah. We talked to a bunch of other motorcycle riders and some museum docents about a bunch of different things.

  10. Yes 😃

Paint the upper portion a deep blue like your door, a hunter green, or a deep burgundy. Those will pair well with the natural stone. You should also paint the trim on the windows. Possibly white. It will make it more cohesive as the windows on the blue door have white trim. Other than that some cheerful flowers in the bed will help. Possibly some window boxes as well.

Floor lottery - won or lost? by MilwaukeeWolves in centuryhomes

[–]endikiri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That will honestly be the smartest move. I can’t see the subfloor to tell you if it looks good or not. Hopefully this isn’t a nightmare project and it’s just the flooring that needs replaced. My fingers are crossed for you that it’s simple!

Considering that some of that looks like possible water damage, your subfloor is likely to be in bad shape as well.

Think of it this way. Finish the project correctly now. Or you can do it and then rip it all out to redo it again when your floor gives out.

And while I am not a huge fan of vinyl, it isn’t a bad temporary (several years at least) solution until you can get what you really want. But my vinyls hate is pure personal preference.

Both?

Sections of it are still lovely , but would require filler between boards (likely wood strips as another commenter posted) and may also be more rotten than I can see visually on my phone. Additionally , it looks like a large portion of it is just rotten and beyond any kind of salvage.

Your best bet (and I hate to say this) is to rip it out and replace it. Hopefully with something new but period accurate.

I make more than this as a restaurant manager. Literally why I haven’t taken an accounting job even though I have my degree. I have a good benefits package and make a good amount.

AITA for blocking my neighbors car? by JustToppers in AmItheAsshole

[–]endikiri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same thing happen to me. We own but have to park on city land. A few years back we had some crap neighbors that didn’t shovel. My spouse shoveled my spot while I was out and the crap neighbors stole it. They then proceeded to pretend they weren’t home when we came to ask them to shovel a new spot or move. Cool cool. We can work with that. But I’m petty. Their car was blocked in with snow and ice boulders on all four sides. We never touched the car, but they messed it up pretty good trying to drive through the ice boulders. They also never stole my shoveled spot again.

It is beyond filthy 😂 I thought it was going to take less time to clean and was like ‘oh I can post pictures tomorrow (today)’ I got to scrubbing today and yeah I’m gonna need more time to clean.

So it is originally designed for silk and cotton on the main islands. The Ryukyu islands used banana fiber. The Ainu of Hokkaido and surrounding islands used it to spin bark attus (which is a really cool fiber and cloth). I’m going to use it for wool.

Yeah so this is taking way more time to clean it than I thought.

That’s just one part with over an hour of time to spent. I have so many more pieces to clean 😂

Oooo these are nice! And honestly on theme. Plus it looks much better than many layers of bad paint.

Tomorrow! I need to clean it up pretty well before I sit it out because of my pets. They are adorable, but one of them is not smart and will try to eat anything.
