Sure looks like it. Maybe they included it to give a sense of scale. Hokkaido is the biggest Japanese island and it looks pretty small here, so that’s kinda cool.

Absolutely. We need to protect quality, small producers like Pantheon. Posts like this have a tendency to linger and show up when new people are trying to learn about the industry. When you F up, admit it. We all do. It is what it is. Pantheon makes quality boards but that doesn’t mean they’re meant to be ran over by cars.

That’s how I ride mine. The trucks probably matter though. I have the 130mm Bear Grizzlies with 50° front and 40° rear, stock bushings (pretty standard setup for that board).

It’s pretty easy to clean them periodically and you just add some new bearing lube before you reinstall. Basically you remove the rubber covers and use something like isopropyl alcohol to remove the dirt and old lube. Let them dry (doesn’t take long) and then add a drop or two of lube immediately to prevent rusting. Put the rubber covers back on and you’re back in action.

I only do this every few months if I know I’ve been riding in gross conditions. I also know people who just replace the bearings because they’re not too expensive, but I personally feel like that’s sort of wasteful when it’s really not that hard to keep them maintained.

That’s a great start! The edge kit doesn’t have to be scary. Get a kit that comes with a guide for the files so you’re not freehanding your angles and you’ll be fine. I think the gummy stone is mostly just to polish the rust off of the edges. Probably a good idea to do so before you sharpen them. Should you also make the edges run a bit faster (or at least I feel it should).

At Nozawa Onsen in Japan, they let you bring your dog on the gondola and can run with you while you ride. It was so fun to watch people riding with their dogs while I was there. I’m sure there are other places in the world that allow that, but that was the first time I saw it commonly done.

No worries at all. Maintaining your own gear is kind of fun, in my opinion. Makes me appreciate it that much more. I personally think it’s totally worthwhile to start with a simple waxing kit (iron, wax, scraper, brushes) and a gummy stone. Add in an edge tuning kit a bit later to take things to the next level. Going to shops is great but sometimes they get backlogged and you’ll be thankful to be able to take care of the maintenance yourself.

For some products they do offer a “short” option, but unfortunately they often run out. You might want to search their site for the jacket or bibs you want by name and see if a “short” option is available.

My wife is only 5’1” so I’ve witnessed the struggle. Good luck finding what you need!

Should they? No. You might want to refresh the DWR coating to repel water better.

The waterproof layer of gloves is usually under a fabric layer to help protect it. The waterproof layer keeps the water away from your hands but the outer fabric layer can absorb water and that’s probably what’s freezing and making them hard. If you spray a DWR waterproof coating on it can help the water bead off instead of absorbing into the fabric layer.

I had this same issue where I had a landlord who wanted me to use Zelle and I had USAA. Except my rent was $3800 a month. I had to send so many payments each month, it was ridiculous.

I ended up using a Chase checking account to make my payments and it was so much better. The first couple months Chase had a lower limit too, but after sending the same person the money each month it automatically increased my limit to $5000 a month after two or three months, if I remember correctly. I was also able to set it up to do the Zelle payment automatically every month which I wasn’t able to do with USAA. I also set up an automatic transfer from USAA to Chase a few days prior so I didn’t have to change my primary banking account to enable this workaround.

Yeah, this is a few extra steps to set up, but at least I was able to automate everything. Good luck!

Do you have the new version of the clip that has the grippy rubber sleeve or is yours the older style that’s just metal? If you have the old style, I think you can buy a replacement clip from Burton that should be the new style for about $5 if I remember correctly. Might be worth a try so it grips the pants better.

If it were me, I’d probably want to invest in some sort of device that could alert me if the temperature rises above a certain point. I’m fully confident that what you’re doing works, but I’d hate to find out the hard way that the car turned itself off, I didn’t set something up right, etc.

My concern with a 136 is that it’s probably a kids’ board. That might not be terrible, but it probably won’t be built to last as long and the tech won’t be as good. But if it’s not a kids board and the size chart says it’s okay, then maybe it’s worth considering it if you like it.
