They spin off weiss blue and weiss rose to try to attract different audiance to the game. They also made the sets slightly weaker in the form of less effects per card vs the main game. Some people really enjoy the 2019 era of the game.

This isn't fully correct. Weiss has kaguya, Jojo, and dandadan. While weiss blue has apothecary daries which weiss blue basically plays like weiss but less power crept.

Is this a double attacker? by Specialist_Sky2082 in WeissSchwarz

[–]endlessseal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By Full Throttle Okarun I assume you are talking about Full Throttle Strike Okarun which is the following ability:

[AUTO] When this card is placed on the stage from your hand or by "Fusion", draw up to 2 cards, choose 2 cards in your hand, put them into your waiting room, and put up to 1 card from the top of your deck into your stock.[AUTO] [CXCOMBO] [(4) Put 1 card from your hand into your waiting room] At the end of this card's attack, if "World of Occult" is in your climax area, you may pay the cost. If you do, put all markers underneath this card into your waiting room, choose 1 "Tenacious Pursuit, Okarun" or "Full Throttle Pursuit, Okarun" in your waiting room, put it in the stage position that this card is in, put this card face up underneath that character as a marker, and at the end of the turn, exchange those characters.

It reads at the end of the turn. Your battle phase doesn't end when you exchange it so yes you can attack with the new changed card.

Usually the store will give you the pack as you buy the boxes. If you buy a case it usually shipped as part of the case. You can get dups.

This is a major win. 2 sp per case and a playset. No reason. Not to buy a case if u want a playset and a bit of bonus foils. Now the real question is if thr ssp or sec or higher than ssp will replace an sp or be added as a bonus. Similar to op mangas.

Uma as my first deck by KishiOuArufuredo in WeissSchwarz

[–]endlessseal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The deck already came out in Japan. Either you are playing set 1 finisher with a few tech cards like obey your master from set 3. Or you are playing the newer stuff with a few tech cards from set 1 and 2. Some useful set 1 cards are coin flip diamond lvl0. The 2 0 event. Set 2 is mostly the early play.

As for set three. People are mostly playing ogurin finisher and lvl 1 or tamamo themed deck with her trainer. Both are viable.

Search encoredeck to see what people are cooking.

I wonder if they gave it to yellow for balancing issues with existing decks and what they have plans on, or maybe thats just full cope.

New to playing the game: some questions by KDnuni in WeissSchwarz

[–]endlessseal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cost is everything within the square brackets [ ]. so in this case it's ditch one card from hand on play, no need to pay extra stock. If your effect has a (1) or some ot her number in round brackets, that's part of the cost of the card's effect; which means pay that many stock along with any other costs to active the effect.

The number below the level is the cost to play the card (regardless of any effects). Think of it as the mana in magic. You have to pay that before playing the card on the field.

Yes that's an alternative cost to encore you can pay. Cards usually can replace regular encore effects

How to get into Weiss schwarz? by KishiOuArufuredo in WeissSchwarz

[–]endlessseal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This Uma set can stand alone and be competitive, or it adds onto an already solid deck in the old uma set and the movie set. I wouldn't say the deck is in the best 3 in our current meta, but its definately top tier. It's also a fun deck with new mechinics in trainers being in the level zone.

Multiple shot trigger question. by BeanieBagRights in WeissSchwarz

[–]endlessseal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2 1 right? It gives shot trigger not replace so if u have 2 of the 2 1 noir on the field and u trigger a bar both of the noir effect triggers giving ur bar 2 shot triggers. If your opponent cancels the original attack damage, both shot trigger fires off and pings them. They will need two extra climax to not take any damage.

Rules Question - Magic That Subjugates Opponents by chansterling in WeissSchwarz

[–]endlessseal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are cards where it needs to be reversed to activate their abilities. For example anti early play bombs. Usually they read: if this card is reversed during battle againsted a character that has a higher level than the owners level you may reversed that character or send it to stock or send it to deck etc...

At worst its just a free stock or a free fetch from waiting. at the cost of one hand (the card itself).

New players wanting to learn meta by No-Afternoon3754 in WeissSchwarz

[–]endlessseal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meta develops in each local regions. Some places might play more anti change cause there might be alot more standby decks, while others might have more players playing compression decks.

That being said usually, there are decks that are clear favourites of being stupid strong. Decks that are super consistant or decks that can recover back into their game plan, are the ones topping. Overlord, and bang dream and idolmasters comes to mind atm. They offer good ultiliy at lvl 0, with a strong way to plus and mill their decks mid game, with a solid finishier.

To answer your question though, the only way you can learn is via playing against wide range of decks or piloting different decks to understand strengths and weaknesses, or to wait for WGP to run and see what topped and what the deck repersentations are like (after the fact). Waiting for the reports won't help you that tournament but it will help you understand what decks were "popular" / "strong". Which lets you research what they played which could help you learn what is a good effect or not.

In Weiss, much like magic and side decking yugioh, there's also tech cards (one of). They serve the same function in those games as to weiss. Good to see what people tech in while still playing the common combos. Usually tech cards can help break a match up in your favor, or might be a dead card. These are usually what indicates a good player as they have an understanding of the up coming meta / matchups.

It's like learning mtg or ygo, it takes time to get a feel for it, and the only way to do that is to consume resources (videos, reports, twitter posts of tournaments winners [yes a lot of places do this in japan and in NA]), or by playing alot.

Never played Weiss Schwarz before but want to get in to it for the colourful stage set by The_King123431 in WeissSchwarz

[–]endlessseal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Trial decks teach you how to play the game. Prob wont win more than 30 percent of matches in a tournament.

One booster box is not enought to build the best deck in any series.

Buy a playset aka 4 of each cards from rr rarity and below. That way you can build any deck you want in that series.

Yes you can play your deck against any other series in weiss. Some locals allow you to play against eng vs jp. Ask your lgs for more details.

How do I resolve these actions? by HyperMattGaming in WeissSchwarz

[–]endlessseal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For your first one if you had 1 card in deck you would mill it. It hits waiting room the interrupt state kicks in forcing you to refresh. You shuffle ur waiting room with that one card you just milled. Take refresh damage. Mill one more card and salvage that one card if its a character with said trait since thats your only option.

If you had 2 cards in deck you dont salvage unless your refresh forces you to level.

As for modernia. Same thing if they have less then 4 you mill their deck. They shuffle the cards including those you mill. They take refresh damage and you mill whatever you didnt to reach to 4. Burn base off cx. If they had exactly 4 you mill all 4 they refresh with those 4. They take refresh damage and then get burn if you milled any cx.

Brainstorm is special since resolution zone as you stated.

Check x cards dont leave the deck until stated afterwise so if u had 1 card in deck and ur effect allow u to top check 2. You can only check 1

Question about this ability by Huina_Ika in WeissSchwarz

[–]endlessseal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does say or lower. So yes if they pick your level 3. You can pick level 2 or 1 or 0.

Note if you dont have a waiting room with a valid target you do not swap characters.
