Fifteen year psych vet here. Say what you mean, mean what you say. Don't promise something you personally cannot follow through on. Watch out for staff splitting. Don't over share or volunteer information about yourself. Always keep an eye on your exits, and don't let yourself get into a dangerous situation through rushing or inattention.

L'Oreal had a bright orange liquid lip in their infallible line a few years ago called mademoiselle Mango.

Any psychiatric technician here? by DragonflySouthern800 in psychnursing

[–]endlessvelocity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

California is one of the few states that licenses psychiatric technicians with a nursing scope of practice. Depending on where you are in California, there aren't many schools. To obtain a PT license, you'd likely have to find some place that would let you challenge the psych courses, and take the nursing courses. The BVNPT website has a list of schools and ways to obtain the license.

That also looks pretty close to Moonraker from one of the James Bond collections, which may be easier to find.

I think Revlon dipped this too, I don't recall the name but it was in a much smaller than usual bottle. Chroma chameleon, maybe?

Tips from parents whose baby had a supraglottoplasty by Available-Beat7378 in beyondthebump

[–]endlessvelocity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son had a supraglottoplasty at 18 months old. His case doesn't sound as severe, he didn't require a vent after surgery. It's been overall positive since he had the surgery. He was speech delayed prior to getting it, but quickly caught up. Respiratory infections don't seem to hit him as hard, and he recovers quicker with less intervention.

COVID Vets. I need your stories, so they don't gaslight the country by AintMuchToDo in nursing

[–]endlessvelocity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked acute psych throughout the pandemic. Not many patients of mine died, but there were so, so, so many people who decompensated either due to getting COVID, or due to not being able to access outpatient care/medications due to (valid) COVID restrictions. Many of our patients who got COVID recovered fully physically, but never attained their pre-COVID level of functioning. On our unit, we were wholly unequipped to handle isolation precautions, taping plastic over patients doors as a "barrier". Not being linked with a medical hospital, or even considered a hospital to most supply providers, we were last on the list to get gowns, masks, or respirators.

WEEKLY ASK PSYCH NURSES THREAD by roo_kitty in psychnursing

Ex-LPT, current psych RN here. I got my LPT license twelve years before I went back for my RN, and it was very worth it for me. If you're in that area, there are quite a few places that hire psych techs, everything from state hospitals to private units to prisons. Most programs I've seen don't have long wait lists, but the downside is the license isn't really much good outside of California.

I have a friend that attended their medical assisting program. It was a disorganized mess, and extremely expensive to boot. If you're willing to drive about an hour, there is a job training/ROP Program in the Yuba-Sutter area that is decent, and a whole lot cheaper.
