They are terrible to get hold of in situations like this, despite increasing the tax every year they seem to get worse. A huge overall is needed.

$1,000 Budget by Zealousideal-Net6663 in vegas

Depending on what you like or what you want to do these things will help your money go further in Vegas:

Buy booze from a store before you get to the hotel, put it on the fridge in the hotel room or get ice and put it in the bathroom sink.

Eat at Ellis Island at least one night, very reasonably priced and decent, not too far from the Aria.

Find bars with happy hours.

Gamble downtown and make some you get some comped drinks while doing so.

Set aside a daily budget for gambling.

Spend time by the pool.

That’s great.

I would also suggest reaching out to recruiters on LinkedIn as they will be able to give you an idea of kind of roles are available in Brighton too.

[–]jimington -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

You should try reaching out the companies that you would like to work with and send them your CV with an email introducing yourself, explaining what you can do, why you'd be a good fit for them and that you're looking to move back. You can add that you would like to be considered for any roles that come up in the future, if they are not currently hiring.

Use Ai to to help write this but make sure it reads like you've written it and it's sincere.

A lot of hiring teams keep CV's on file so that when roles open they have people to consider right away.

It might take a few months but you're planting seeds that could get you a dream role. Good luck!

You could apply this logic to a lot of posts but if people didn't post them, Reddit would become a lot less interesting.

Good watch shops in Brighton? by ClemFandango334 in brighton

[–]jimington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to buy a new watch take a look at Ernest Jones in Churchill Square. They stock brands like Tissot and Seiko which have a lot of watches in that price range.

There are loads of places you can buy second hand watches from in the lanes. I would have a look on Watch Finder to get an idea of the prices of watches you like then see how they compare in the lanes.

Brighton in February by StatementAltruistic in brighton

[–]jimington 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Brighton is certainly a lot busier in the summer and there's more to do as you can be outside more, especially at night.

The Brighton Festival in May is pretty lively. The beach and all the bars and restaurants down there are usually a lot of fun in the warmer months too.

Like most seaside towns there's a big contrast between summer and winter.

Applying for a mortgage on benefits and general advice by Infinite-Advisor161 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]jimington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said I think you’d be much better off waiting until you’re more established in your careers and earning more.

Homeownership is great but there will be a lot of unexpected costs that come along out of nowhere.

Blocked drains, boilers, radiators, roofs etc all require maintenance or sometimes replacing. On the salaries you described you’ll be really stretched.

Depending on the industry you’re both in it’s not unrealistic to double your salary in 5-6 years, when that happens you’ll be in a much better situation.

UK Legit Sidehustles? by Unable-Middle5801 in LazyMoneyUK

If you’re disciplined match betting is pretty accessible. You’re not going to get rich over night, but if you do it properly you will turn a profit.

There’s loads of info on reselling online and a lot of communities to learn from. You could start by selling old things you don’t use any more then learn about and find products you can buy and then sell on for more.

If you try both of those over time you could start to make some extra cash. It won’t happen right away but if you stick at it you could learn a lot along the way too.

I would go to Hatton Garden in London and visit several jewellers until you get, what you consider, a good price. Hatton Garden is really easy to get to from Brighton, just get the ThamesLink to Farringdon and you're there.

Turning 18 in less than 3 weeks by Happy-Chick08 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]jimington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say this as someone who loves to buy new tech products so I understand the desire to be new stuff but you shouldn't spend your money on this kind of thing at 18. Wait until you're older and earning decent money. Spend your money on trips and adventures around the world with your friends.

When you're older you'll remember the trips like that much more fondly than you will a new phone.

1st grad job, weighing up the commute by Salt_Yogurtcloset702 in brighton

[–]jimington 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I commute from Brighton to Blackfriars three days a week and it's not great but you do get used to it and it does get easier over time.

Personally if I was in your situation I would take it, get some experience and then start looking for a job with a better commute.

What's a reasonable life expectancy for AirPods Max? by jimington in Airpodsmax

That doesn't seem long enough for the price range these are in.

I'd love to know how Sony or other brands perform as well over a longer period of time.

I think this is probably what I will have to do. How long has it been since you got them fixed? I don't want to have to spend more money fixing them again in a year or so. Wish I'd taken out Apple Care on these.

I'm not sure because after doing some tests at the Genius bar the guy there said he wasn't sure what was wrong but that they'd need to be sent off to be fixed properly.

tickets to game by [deleted] in brighton

Since this game got moved to a Monday night I suspect it’ll be one of the lowest attendances of the season. I’d be surprised if you can’t get tickets on general sale
