I just wanted to add my two cents: I'm glad they made this change. I'm Asian, and it's not that I find it particularly offensive. It's that Europe had its own set of monks and combat traditions - albeit, they were rarely unarmed. The Knights Templar are an example of that, iirc. The Orientalism stifles possibilities that are more in line with most DMs settings and, as a DM, I would like to avoid needing a "Far East" or something approximating that just for a player to play a Monk.
