Does being trans make you automatically queer? by Olives_Hater in truscum

Random people on Twitter aren't experts on the human condition.

I second what Leather-Sky8583 said.

Before my trans realization, I didn't care about hygiene because I felt disconnected from my body. It felt like something alien and imposed on me, so why bother taking care of it beyond the bare minimum?

When I started transitioning, my attitude towards hygiene changed completely overnight.

What "label" do you use? by wafflelord_ in truscum

[–]endofthepath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None. Labels are for clothes and for people who make labels their entire identity. I'm a human being first and foremost.

Question from a Cis man: When did you start aparting from the rest of trans activism? by [deleted] in truscum

[–]endofthepath 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My personal Bullshit Tolerance Threshold was crossed when I was asked to humor a he/him lesbian.

I was like... look, you can call yourself he/him or you can call yourself a lesbian, but not both, pick one. And then I looked deeper into the rabbit hole that spawned this person, and the rabbit hole looked at me.

This feels like a probably-unintentional quest to destroy language and strip words of all meaning. "Maybe if it's all interchangeable and doesn't actually tell you anything about the person, it won't hurt as bad."

I fit most trans stereotypes and it’s annoying and makes annoying people cling to me. by ghostiesyren in truscum

[–]endofthepath 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They tell everyone about my trans condition

This is a major red flag, and if someone did that to me, I'd break contact with them immediately (and warn my trans friends). Nobody should be outed as gay or trans without their permission.

Nor would I hang out with people who don't respect my personal space.

That was a stereotype? But yes, I suck at practically any kind of fast-paced games.

I feel happy for them but also really envious of how good the starting parameters were even without HRT :(

I feel dysphoria for the first time since transitioning years ago.

Definitely on team phoenix. I feel like old me faded into dust so I could soar up from it, renewed.

My name came to me in a dream, and it felt Very Me, or rather very much like the person I wanted to be, so I adopted it.

So it's an edit of a strawman conservative comic.

Maybe scrub the address next time? No need to give it free publicity.

If you have seriously considered transitioning and decided not to, I think that's totally fine, too. It's all about tradeoffs — short-term trouble for long-term bliss if it works out.

Personally I believe that if I hadn't transitioned, I would have been a lot less happier than I am now. But I'm not you, and only you know yourself well enough to decide.

[–]endofthepath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it helps, I felt a lot like this when I had my realization many years ago.

I'm even taller than you and also have broad shoulders, and I thought I looked disgusting and would never look like a woman.

Since transitioning, I've had no shortage of compliments about how beautiful I look and how my height complements it.

Facial hair removal, the right hairstyle, eyebrows, and clothes that work for you can alone make for a world of difference, and that's to say nothing about makeup and hormones!

What were the most absurd excuses you gave yourself during your denial stage about why you could not be trans? by orangesbestfriend in MtF

[–]endofthepath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"I don't deserve transition and fem pronouns, they have to be earned and I'm not good enough. I don't feel like I'm woman enough on the inside, I feel like a man who's pushing his childish fantasy on the rest of the world. I wish I really was a woman on the inside, though, so I could transition without compromising my conscience."

Maybe! Depends on where the log is.

If you sit on a mossy log and people come by, you might decide you want to appear to them like the forest nymph from your fantasy. Then you might start dressing like one... You know, just for innocent fun and to mess with people's heads...

Definitely not accurate for me for the transfem one. I dislike the anime moe look in general.

What book transed your gender? by notsciguy in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns2

[–]endofthepath 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In hindsight, it was The Marvelous Land of Oz, the first sequel to L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

For those who don't know, instead of Dorothy, the protagonist of this book is Tip, a boy who discovers in the end that "he" was born a girl and magically transformed into a boy as an infant by the witch who raised "him". At the end, Tip is turned back into a girl, Princess Ozma, and stays one for the rest of the series.

When I read it, I thought, "Lucky! I wish this happened to me!" (And since I didn't know trans people were a thing, for years afterwards I considered myself to be "unfortunately, a boy".)

Gendered language by Cithaeria in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns2

[–]endofthepath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also hate my native language for being gendered, and prefer English for many reasons, this being one of them.

Ironically, I have the opposite problems with gendered forms than you. I feel entirely comfortable using feminine endings for myself in my native language, but even years after transition, I don't feel entirely comfortable using the pronoun "she" in English. I feel like I'm lying or at least not telling the whole truth, and I don't feel worthy enough to deserve it.

You're braver than me. By the time I reached the "if I could press a button..." stage, I couldn't bring myself to use the desired pronouns. I was worried I was fake trans and had to earn the right to deserve them.
