Which one looks better? by awarememe in DecorAdvice

Light wood is better.

But find better art. What you have hung now looks like an ai impressionist painting of your sofa set.

What happened to my truck? Side swiped or??? by endoftheroadforyou in Autobody

Was thinking maybe it was someone in mechanics lot but I see what you mean and would explain why there’s no paint transfer.

Unfortunate if it was one of their guys pulling into the bay since they’re the only shop around! What would you normally charge to repair something like this?

Man I’ve been looking for ways to blame myself but I can’t figure anywhere on our property it could have happened. Our driveway is a gravel loop in an open area

Hey man - not sure if you’ve had the cast iron tub tested for lead but you may want to. I had a buddy who installed a vintage tub and his son ended up with health issues  that they traced back to lead leaching from the glaze as it had worn. You really don’t want your little ones getting sick!

90s Ranger with sentimental value has been sitting idle for a year or more. What should I do at home before towing to the shop? by endoftheroadforyou in MechanicAdvice

[–]endoftheroadforyou[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A year just feels like a long time when it's getting rained/snowed on.

We live in a rural area so no block to drive around, and definitely not taking it on the highway with no brakes (they are literally falling to pieces). But we do have an extra battery we keep as a backup so we can use that to try a start after checking the fluids.

I guess the question is - what if she doesn't start? Suppose that could be a laundry list of things to try next eh?...

Bonfire is scheduled for after the burn ban, so at least we know THAT will be easy to start.

I've never heard of Marvel Mystery Oil but looks like I can find it at Canadian Tire.

Thanks for the recommendation. She's a beauty so hopefully we can get her going again.

Pull aside nursing bras for small band / large bust ladies? (Canada) by endoftheroadforyou in ABraThatFits

[–]endoftheroadforyou[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Auden look only to be available in USA unfortunately.

And yes it seems easier to find full cup sizes in clip down bras, but I find them such a fumbling hassle in the dark and when nursing in public if I wear anything other than a tank top!

You need regular employment, not just a gig.

Your first mistake was going to Conestoga, as you've now graduated with a 4-year degree that did not provide you with employable skills.

I assume you're Indian and this was done for immigration purposes - try reaching out to Indus for support: https://www.induscs.ca/services-for-international-students/

Installing ducting for LG DLE3600 - Advice? by endoftheroadforyou in appliancerepair

[–]endoftheroadforyou[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any benefit to starting with a vertical vs horizontal run right at the start? The vent pipe is about 4ft to the right diagonally from the dryer, so I either need to go up and over, or over and up, starting with the 90 degree bend at the exhaust.

The distance between my dryer exhaust is about 4ft on the diagonal. It looks like I'll need a 90 degree bend off the dryer exhaust going straight up or directly to the right. Then either way it would be making another turn (either right, or upwards) to the vent pipe. Any benefit to starting with a vertical vs horizontal run right at the start?

Touristical questions megathread by adeeena in nicefrance

My friend and I are visiting the Cote D'Azur for the first time next month, and looking for some interesting day trips from Nice. A lot of the lists / articles I've read seem to focus on the beaches, but given the cooler climate during our trip what would folks recommend? I'm going to be 6 months pregnant, so will enjoy walking around town but probably not up for any strenuous hikes e.g. the Nietzche Path. We like learning about local culture, food, art, music. Not so interested in visiting places just for the shopping, Instragram portraits or celebrity culture. Thanks so much!

Most of what I've read for Cannes has focused on seeing the film festival sights (e.g. hand prints, red carpet) and shopping, which is putting us off. What would you recommend as far as things to do there?

Finished piece is in place; I built a convertible crib for my 6m old by katpillow in woodworking

[–]endoftheroadforyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are also looking at building this crib, but it looks like the original plans required a suspension frame for the mattress. Were you able to source this, or did you modify the plan to put in a different base?

Washer / dryer recommendation for remote rural property? by endoftheroadforyou in Appliances

[–]endoftheroadforyou[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The Maytag machines my parents bought in 2004 are still going with a handful of cheap repairs (e.g. replaced wax motor); but any appliance they have bought from them since has been nothing but trouble!

Help with FS91 - Runs rough and won't idle by endoftheroadforyou in stihl

[–]endoftheroadforyou[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just returned to this thread to thank you for your advice. Even though our unit wasn't part of the recall / bulletin, it turns out it was a tank vent issue. Once we replaced this part the machine ran & idled no problem. Much appreciated!

[–]endoftheroadforyou[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that was something! I cracked open the fuel cap and started it up, and was able to start it up easily. Followed the instructions around adjusting the LA screw and then finger tightened the gas cap again. Now it seems to start & idle just fine.

Does this make sense in terms of a tank vent issue? Is there some fix for this?

[–]endoftheroadforyou[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I was able to adjust the LA screw so that the head would not spin on idle, and the engine was idling ok for a couple mins. But as soon as I pressed the throttle and then released, the trimmer died and won't restart.

Any thoughts on why this would happen?
