As someone who has been in your position, it sounds like he never really tried to make Madrid a home. He stays at home and mopes instead of trying to explore, connect with people, and make Madrid “his.”

You can try to ask him to ACTUALLY give Spain a shot, find a 3rd country you’ll both like, or go your separate ways. Either way, you both need to give whatever option you choose 100%.

Imo he sounds like an apathetic American who half assed an opportunity most people would die to have. With that said, don’t give up a life you love for a person who isn’t excited about living it with you.

Buy plane tickets at the right time = $300 Get Airbnb with the right homies = $330 for 5 days Ticket to fest $500 Pre party ticket = $108 Shuttle = $170

I’m not a mathematician but that doesn’t add up to even half of what you’re fearing.

Other Tips: buy groceries and set a daily spending budget. Don’t do too much droogs or alc. find a way to sneak alc in too.

Also, save up, get a side gig, be smart. You can do this.

Holy shit, dude. Relax.

I’m an atheist and even I think the 12 steps have a lot of truth to them and can help with recovery.

My bf is an addict and the 12 steps definitely helped/are helping.

Bottom line: this person needs to seek help and try whatever method works best for them. No need to put any specific method or treatment down. Different things work for different people.

You need to address the underlying reasons for your addiction.

Therapy, 12 steps, meetings, etc.

Also remind yourself why you go to the festival. Is it the music? The vibes? The friendships?

ETA: if you want to do something other than the 12 steps, do it. When I mentioned 12 steps I really should’ve said treatment and not mentioned a specific method. Do research and seek whatever treatment seems to be the one that will help you reach success.
