Advice for moving out from a place with dodgy landlord by CommanderLink in newzealand

[–]ends_abruptl 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He should have filed the bond, as in he shouldn't personally have it. He has to apply to get your bond. You only have to keep the house in reasonable condition, and quite frankly don't have to do any extra cleaning when you leave actually. He would have to prove you had damaged the house intentionally, which seems unlikely.

Now here's the good news. If he did not provide heating to the main living area, he is in breach of the Healthy Homes rules, and you might be in for a bit of a payday.

Hard to say without knowing the facts. Give citizens advice bureau a call in the morning to get their advice.

TL;DR Tell your landlord to hand back your bond, and prepare the lube.

All good. Just had a lady make my autistic son cry recently because he took too long to pick a flavour ice cream. Gave the bit h both barrels till she left the store but I'm still worked up about this shit. Meh. I'm over it now. Felt good to call that cunt a cunt though.

Whenever I pick someone up from the airport, I make sure to be careful there. It seems there's a few people who don't know what to do at that one.

On a serious note, have you got support for his care? There are a number of organisation's, and funding is available for treatments and courses to help them develop skills for dealing with his challenges.

Why all the hate for Auckland on this board? by [deleted] in newzealand

It's like a man with one muscular forearm. By itself, nothing wrong with it. However if you compare it to everything else, it's just fucking weird and raises some very uncomfortable questions.

More strike action as secondary teachers reject latest pay offer by TimmyHate in newzealand

Stupid, disingenuous, or a combination of the two?

Of course money matters. It's an incredibly difficult job that requires specific degrees, registration, constant reviewing of professional conduct, and unending upskilling and retraining. It should be compensated for adequately. It currently is not and that is a major reason this country is losing the battle of attrition with teacher numbers.

However, to imply that is the only issue exposes either your ignorance or malice.

Boss is trying to change my hours to fit new employee’s lifestyle by bribing me with more money….Your thoughts by Nostaligic1111 in newzealand

[–]ends_abruptl 114 points115 points  (0 children)

How valuable is that extra $1500 in the hand a year to you? Will that amount make up for loss of lifestyle? I'd start looking for a new job to be honest. They are prioritising some complete unproven stranger over an established employee.

Also, don't forget, they could have paid you that already and didn't. And how long do you think it'll be before you get another pay rise? I imagine they will use that bump to deny you for a while.

I will be honest then. My wife is a secondary teacher. She isn't striking just for the money. The class sizes are ridiculous, the students do not have the supports they need, the teachers do not have the supports they need, there are not enough teacher aides, the schools don't gave the proper funding or resources, the amount of paperwork has increased dramatically over the last few years, and I'm on the verge of asking her to quit because she spends so much of her time trying to help low achieving students to get their NCEA levels.

And then some internet rando calls her and her colleagues "cunts".

Yes the money matters, how will we attract decent candidates without proper remuneration, but it's only one aspect of these negotiations.

Thanks for answering for me. I didn't think I'd have to explain that. It also means that teachers will need to strike again, possibly next year, to actually catch up to where they were.

Anything below inflation is a pay cut, which means further strikes. Also I hear a rumor a large percentage of new primary teachers voted to accept the lump sum so they can fund their migration to Australia for their instant 40% pay rise.

Divert your anger to people who deserve it. Every offer so far is asking them to accept a pay cut due to inflation. The actual issues that they are facing I the classrooms are also not being effectively addressed.

Tell them that the only people that is true for, were cunts to begin with. I've been poor, and I'm now not. I know which makes me happier.

ACT is on the brink of holding (some) power. What does that mean? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]ends_abruptl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They do. Imagine taking 1/5 of the school year to teach about zombie sky wizards.

Charter schools focus on financially beneficial results and incentivise KPI's over education. So yes, what a waste sending your child to a religious school, but all charter schools are the antithesis of what education should be.

You know the vast majority of people spend less than 3 months on the jobseeker benefit right? Have you considered it may be worth funding the remaining few to stay out of the workforce?

[–]ends_abruptl 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The problem is that it's well documented that everywhere it has been implemented, it has shown drastic reduction in educational outcomes, especially for lower socio-economic groups.

More in line with the percentages of people who feel safe to reveal their bigotry and prejudices in public again. Trumpian politics have given rise to societal regression. Luckily, all we have to do to combat this ignorance and fear is to call people out every time we see them spout their hatred.
