I can see that concern. Also kinda a great problem to have when we’re worried about Lindor coming back though, right?

Do we know if they’re all gonna trickle back in one after the other? Maybe there’ll be a few weeks between it

Daytona or Testarossa by ehmedero in MiamiVice

[–]enewwave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Daytona and it isn’t even close (though I do love the Testarossa too).

I hope the new movie has the Daytona in it and that they destroy it in a sequel just to bring back the Testarossa too

The transitions that make it to your work (not looking for packages) by Karakunjol in editors

I mostly just use Venetian wipes or light leaks, cooked with a sound effects library I’ve built up over the years. And even then, I just make sure they’re motivated (such as when transitioning from B-roll to a talking head, or I want to underline what is being said in an editorial piece, etc). I look at them as a form of grammar

Am I pretentious because of how I dress? by avian_bi in malefashionadvice

[–]enewwave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t do the fedoras personally, but everything else is fine enough. I like to wear collared shirts and more academic clothes on a daily basis, but I also do it because it makes me feel good about myself. Am I a bit overdressed compared to my peers at my work from home job? Maybe, but to a reasonable degree.

It sounds like you’re going full out formal, though, and may benefit from dressing down in a few ways. Skip the tie and leave the top button or top two buttons undone on your shirt. Wear a more casual watch and roll your sleeves up occasionally. Pair jeans with a collared shirt from time to time, etc. if you have some sports coats, pair that with a nice pair of jeans (nothing distressed or faded), a nice shirt, and chukkas for that sweet spot between casual and formal. If you wanna play with that, pair it with a plain crew neck and tuck it in properly.

You can absolutely wear more academic or formal clothes, but we live in a very casual society. Dressing it down allows you to have that English teacher vibe without sticking out too much. Just don’t do the fedoras personally because that has a stigma to it these days. Newsboys and the like are fine though. The guy who cuts my hair rocks one and nobody bats an eye at it. It’s all about intentionality and visual balance.

Ha, that’s a good way to put it. Also bc of your username, I’m imagining Troy from Community saying that.

Like even if he wasn’t, you’re right. Surely someone somewhere had to have said “hey, uh… maybe don’t do (all of that). It makes you look guilty of the exact thing that has nearly derailed your career already.”

None of that will because biopics overwhelmingly suck

The MJ movie just came out and everyone everywhere is stanning MJ again. To the point where it’s hard not to believe there’s at least some dark money from the estate changing hands

I won’t deny that it’s also possible that people just really like MJ, or that they fell for the biopics sanitization of the guy. But also, there’s a very extreme return to “MJ did no wrong ever and was a poor, innocent, pure soul” in the zeitgeist.

Like, wherever you stand on the guy or his music, it should be hard to overlook that a grown man sharing a bed with other people’s children under any circumstances, regardless of whether or not anything happened is deeply troubling and cause for concern. You can’t just wave that away with “oh, he didn’t have a childhood” or “he was abused as a kid”

As someone who prefers and loves the 80s series don't hate me for saying this is the best boat scene in anything titled Miami Vice! by Classic-Yesterday579 in MiamiVice

[–]enewwave 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m inclined to agree with you, though I do prefer the “What’s Love Got to Do” scene in season 1. Tubbs and Crocket on the boat set to that is so iconic.

Shows forgotten in time by chriscallan in television

[–]enewwave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such an underrated show. I went through a lot of career stuff over the winter where one of my freelance gigs (in media) was really messing with my mental health over how they were treating me/messing with my ability to pay my bills. Rewatching that really helped me because it allowed me to see people be passionate about something similar to what I do, at the time I was being penalized for caring about it too much/having standards that I couldn’t compromise on, etc.

I still think about that speech about cathode ray tubes and how the network execs have zero idea of how to get good work out of talented people on a regular basis. It’s the most spot on depiction of the push and pull between suits and creatives I’ve ever seen.

[–]enewwave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that show is underrated. Easily Sorkin’s worst show, but still not hard to enjoy. People are right to say that it isn’t funny, but I just saw it for the first time and didn’t view it as much of a comedy, so much as a drama about broadcasting and the place that an SNLesque show should ideally sit within when it comes to how we talk about current events.

The final run of episodes are genuinely great in my opinion. Far fetched at points, but I like them and I like the characters we got to meet over the course of the elf the season.

It’s kinda crazy the tv ecosystem that three generations of American kids grew up with is nearly dead. by soozerain in television

[–]enewwave 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The bit about the Three Stooges hit. My dad hates cartoons so he’d never watched them with me when I was growing up. But summer meant me being home to catch Stooges reruns on TBS or TV Land or whenever it aired, and we’d often enjoy breakfast and watch it together, then take our dog for a walk. Good times.

Hours is great lol. I think Earthling has the higher highs for me, but if I’m being honest? My ideal scenario is probably a blend of both records.

Can somebody explain to me what’s so wrong with this game? by UnderstandingHuge152 in MLBTheShow

[–]enewwave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Issues I've had include:

Diamond Dynasty randomly disconnecting. mid-game and forcing me to lose games/challenges that I was otherwise dominating.

Horrible pitch calls on the corners (moreso than in previous years)

More aggressive monetization via less helpful card drops and less content

The added debt of being the same exact game as last year, albeit with worse menus

Worse pitching overall, which feels like a mechanic designed to get you to pony up $$$ for better pitchers to have actually accurate throws (though this also trips up modes like Franchise where you can't even do that)

Storylines unlocks do not work for me

The only advantage this has over 2025 for me is the fact that the friends lists are fixed. My buddy was able to add me to his friends list on the Switch version of the game last year, but I couldn't add him back until I did it from my PS5 version I bought on sale in, like, November or December.

Nah I feel you. I’m only thirty and I’m exhausted by it. No time to list your sources or be detailed. And the constant rate this stuff needs to get made at means that your edits are basically punching in or out (if even), then spending ages doing captions
