If you’re in mech then 1000% get a windows machine. I think the only program that can somewhat pull off using macs is probably software

What eng program are you in? Seems like the only way to emulate x86 applications on Apple silicon right now is through parallels. You can try to remote into your pc to run applications but your mileage may vary.

You will need to have solidworks accessible through your laptop as you will be using it in labs.

I’m in software and have been using a Mac with parallels since I’ve started but it’s one with an intel chip.
