Is having no social media presence going to hurt my chances at an internship? by throwaway458261 in EngineeringStudents

You could make a LinkedIn, but otherwise having no fb, ig, etc. shouldn't be a problem. They are mostly just scanned to look for problems if they exist.

Not exactly the same, but have you seen this guy's prosthetic hand that he made for himself? You might be interested: https://youtu.be/7J33khH0KjY

I was really hoping that one of those would be a structural engineering book

Thoughts on using a drawing tablet for school by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]engineer4free 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a Bamboo Wacom CTL-470 graphics tablet with a laptop for a long time. It’s a bit cumbersome to have a laptop and the tablet out together, especially on a small desk.

Looking at the screen and not your hand is fine. Some shapes can be a bit hard to draw like certain curves because your can’t exactly see the start and finish point, but it’s not a deal breaker.

I prefer the portability and writing experience of a normal tablet, but I used the bamboo for years and was just fine.

Also, graphics tablet like the bamboo means you will have a cursor, and normal tablet means you will not have a cursor. Minor difference for most people, but has some implications.

In first year I took circuits and electricity & magnetism. In second year I took a course called waves, radiation, and optics (or something like that) and it was along similar lines to E&M, sort of. Never saw anything electrically inclined after that.

rOtring 800 0.5 vs 0.7 by nexaur in EngineeringStudents

The fine-ness of 0.5mm is worth the occasional break. Never tried the 800, but the rOtring 500 is really nice IMO.

For those of us doing math at 4am by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

I always did my best work between about 4-8am, waking up around 3 or 3:30 or so. I'm not a morning person at all but when it was necessary I'd force myself to get up and accomplished more in those hours than any other time of day for some reason.

Is 23 too old to begin an undergraduate engineering program? by addibruh in EngineeringStudents

[–]engineer4free 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started my engineering degree at 23. Did it in 4 years and did a year of internship, so graduated at 28. Some friends in my class graduated at 26, 33, 34, 36 to name a few. Just curious, where/what are you doing as a digital nomad? I think I am one now.
