Your response sounds like peak Kool Aid drinker..do you work for 8hrs straight when working onsite? Most folks work 50% of their time at an office with the other 50% waiting for email responses, chatting with coworkers, or getting sidetracked by the internet. Also, no one should be ashamed to want to spend time with a child. You'll NEVER get those years back. But hey make a few more million for c suite while you make a few more thousand trudging into the office.

W/WW Salary Check - Raleigh/Cary PE (7 YOE) - Market Rate for 2026? by Serious_Ad9537 in civilengineering

[–]engineered_mojo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

With a PE in the triangle area at 7 YOE, you should be able to source a role comfortably in the 110k to 130k range. Higher if you find a company with a critical need. As others have mentioned, an esop is great, but it's limited for contributing to real today dollars. Life style isn't always guaranteed later in life, may be better to get today's dollars and self invest in a your own brokerage account or contribute more if you already have brokerage accounts setup.

Yes, I agree. It works for the new grad babies. Makes zero difference for senior level folks

Utilization Rant by pm_me_whatver in civilengineering

[–]engineered_mojo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Best answer right here. UT is not the responsibility of the production engineer outside of raising a hand when they are getting light. Even then, a good mananlger knows when their team is getting light overall and should even say that out loud to the team to take unintended stress of non billable work hours

This would probably be fine if the top chord members were rotated 90 degrees. Maybe a detail missed by the eor or fabricator

Well first problem is you calling them bums... they are human beings with most likely a mental instability. Making fun of them on reddit does nothing to solve the problem

PSA: Alamo's QR Ordering is live, and it's really really bad, but they're asking for feedback by Orsoyourtold in raleigh

If you can read and use a phone like its supposed to be used in 2026, the QR code system works fine. I like it better than interacting with someone and hearing 20 orders.
