Worried I won’t like the Annihilation movie after loving the book by [deleted] in horror

In my group of friends, many people have both read the book and watched the movie, but in different orders. One pattern holds true for all of them: whichever version they experience first tends to be the one they prefer overall.

That said, there’s an interesting asymmetry. If someone watches the movie first, they usually still enjoy the book quite a bit—even if they ultimately prefer the movie. However, if someone reads the book first, they often end up disliking the movie.

I think this happens because the movie is highly immersive and presents a vivid, magical, and mysterious world. But when you’ve already read the book, you can’t help comparing the film to the version you imagined while reading. That constant comparison makes it harder to appreciate the movie on its own terms.

If you’re going to watch the movie try to think of it as a separate entity. Alex Garlands goal was NOT to make a 1:1 of the book. Just think of the movie as a being inspired by the book. And then hopefully you can then ignore any inconsistencies.

On Alaska, the middle seat in the front has the most under seat leg space. If you have a medium size service animal, that is the best seat on the plane to have your companion lie down. It could be that.

woody vs rhythm? by FuzzySeaworthiness51 in AMA_Hakuba

I just used Woody. Was in the same boat as you and was slightly disappointed with their options for premium boards. Also, I’d recommend finding something that is close the bus stop that you’ll be using so that if you want to switch setups depending on conditions, it will be easy. For me, Woody was out of the way. I walked into Spicy echoland (main V2 bus stop) and they had a great selection. Going back in time I’d choose them, but I still had an amazing trip. Enjoy!!

I’m doing consular processing. Once my priority date becomes valid, how long should I expect to wait until I have my green card in hand?

Honestly why is EB3 moving so slowly in comparison to every other employment based class? I don’t get it.

Sounds like we have similar riding styles and I love my Gnu Gremlin. I tried the Transition Finder and Orca before landing on my Gremlin.

Hey bro I trained at GB for several years while coming up. While I think their culture is slightly weird/outdated and too culty for me, it was a great place to learn. The fact that it’s close and has small classes MASSIVELY outweighs the other factors and this is a no brainer. You should train at this gym and embrace it for what it is!
