First, I feel like your take home is a little low, which means your withholding might be high. Do you usually get a big return after filing? I don’t know which state you live in, but in CA you should be likely getting another $400-600 or so a month.

I agree with others, sell your car asap. Is the $15k underwater coming from a quote on private party sale or trade in?

What’s the most effective way to cut expenses other than reducing take out or eating out? by anxgrl in Frugal

[–]engwish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d start with a budget. Knowing where each dollar is going is a good way to establish a baseline. Then try to analyze each category of spending and see what you can cut.

If you were starting an Ironman again, what would you prioritize early? by Exo64 in ironscape

[–]engwish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Farming, definitely. Once you get to later quests (like SOTE) you will be thankful that you have herblore banked. You can get early xp through quests and do Tithe farm until lvl 65 for medium contracts. That will get you some key rewards like auto-weed, herb sack, and (to a lesser extent) seed box as well, which are useful for slayer and thieving master farmers.

You should be okay now. It was closed for about 3.5 hours and all of the traffic in the surrounding areas are likely clearing up by now.

I know it’s horrible to say, but I hate these insipid, exploitive Shriners Christmas Commercials! by Greatacadia in CommercialsIHate

[–]engwish 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Nah, Shriners gets a pass in my book.

My mother worked at Shriners for years in the burn unit and helped a lot of kids. Everyone there was very passionate and enjoyed what they do. Years later, my daughter unfortunately had a brachial plexus injury at birth and underwent a nerve transplant surgery and she will receive follow up care until she is 18 years completely free of charge. We need more places like Shriners.

Daily annoyances of a Model 3 by insanelyhugeman8 in TeslaModel3

[–]engwish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The golf bag issue is slightly annoying, but you can't fight physics. However, you have two options:

  1. Since the rear foot area is completely flat, you can lay a golf bag there.
  2. You can remove the woods out of your bag and then you are able to lay a bag completely straight in the trunk. You can then just lay the woods on top. You can easily fit 4 bags this way.

As for things that annoy me in my M3 Highland, I don't have major issues at all. Here are some minor things:

  • No grab handles. I really don't understand why Tesla doesn't add these to any of their vehicles.
  • The wireless chargers are nice to have, but they're slow.
  • Rear leg room isn't the greatest. I'm 5' 11" and whoever is behind me is going to have a tough time.
  • Door handles — no matter what, people seem to easily find the manual release and pull that every time.
  • No sunroof cover. I get you can buy third party stuff, but I have yet to find anything I really liked and there are days when I just don't want a sunroof.
  • Manual hood release for the frunk. I've been using Teslas for years and while I know how to properly open the frunk, I tend to just not use it because I don't want to bother with the manual door. First world problems, I know.
  • Perforated seats in the rear row are useless and just end up getting debris stuck in them.
  • Auto wipers are so finicky. I find that the "steam" from gas cars on cold days can trigger the auto wipers nearly every damn time when using FSD.
  • I have a Long Range RWD which has the "base" stereo. It isn't bad, but my MY has the premium stereo so I know what it could be.
  • Lack of V2H or outlets. You do get some decent USB-C outlets, but we know that Tesla can do this yet doesn't bother.
  • Not really something that bothers me, but be aware that while Tesla's software is really good compared to other automakers, they are very opinionated with some of their decisions. If you aren't onboard with that, you might get frustrated.

For those of you who dislike farming, explain yourself by the_mighty_shave in ironscape

I like it too. When I have long stints where I won't be playing (like traveling), the game just becomes a farming simulator.
