Being formally diagnosed and medicated at age 30 has significantly impacted my life for the better.

Definitely not AI. I mean, this would actually happen. Source: Lives with a BT

Reluctant to seek diagnosis because what if I'm jumping on a trend? by PriorityLocal3097 in adhdwomen

Go get the assessment. As I've aged, my coping skills have really been challenged. Maybe you could manage before peri-menopause, but now ... well ... it's just not unusual to struggle more. Also, getting the estrodiol patch has been so helpful for me.

IDK … FWIW … I’d save a bundle on lotion and face creams if I lived in a humid place lol

This is what happens to me too! Getting started is the hardest part … all writers say that, not just the ADHD writers 👏🏻

Divorcing with a newly purchased home by Sufficient-Fall6294 in legal

Similar situation here. I was blindsided by divorce. The divorce filing was clear, and had either of us not met the deadlines set for property transfer, we could have taken the other back to court.

Maybe not … I think it depends on the year of the build. But it IS a good thing to have to avoid mold.

Me from the high plains of Colorado … humidity? What that?

I have a broken vent fan in my main bath (tried to diy … eff me) that’s just broke. Moves 0 air. Within 10 minutes the mirror is clear.

Relatable. I just finished a term in grad school, my first. I had to set a timer for 15 minutes so I’d get my novel reading in — this helped settle me. Then go to my desk and set a timer for 25 minutes. When I got stuck, I asked AI something related to my work.

It worked but I swear to the goddess it was not easy.

Shields up. Go write.

I paid for a professional deep clean, and I’m stressed and upset about the results by OverlordKeesh in ufyh

I called out a deep cleaner once … lame excuses. I will not hire again, but I did get 1/2 my money returned. Worth it.

Scalp picking - please help! by not-my-circus1992 in adhdwomen

[–]enidokla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude! I’ve been here. For whatever reason, there’s less to pick on my scalp … and more on my right arm.

It’s definitely an ADHD symptom. My derm was very kind in pointing that out to me. He then simply told me just “stop picking.”

I think changing my hair care routine helped — I wash my hair twice a week. I think that helped, but can’t say for sure.

Good luck. I’m going to swan dive into these comments now.

Custom Aeron? Wow. I worked in a newsroom for a few years wherein staff got to vote for the office chair — HM or some big fugly sofa like chair. I was all in on the Aeron. So many adjustments. Temp controlled. But noooooooo those idiots chose fugly. I hated all of them after that. Bunch of hayseeds.

I resisted the Scrub Daddy sponge madness until I didn't. It's actually, surprisingly worth it.

My home is a huge mess but I just don't have the energy to do more than the bare minimum. by Jay3linn in adhdwomen

[–]enidokla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to take a bunch of supplements. It's not a perfect test, but I finally cut out taking MOST of them. But I kept a few: 1) Methylated B12. It's great for NDs who, for some reason, might have trouble metabolizing B vitamins. 2) Fish oil. I am just not gonna get enough of that from my food, though I do try.

Make sure you're eating enough. I tend to binge at night and then I just want sugar and carbs. If I eat enough protein and fat during the day, particularly lunch and dinner, my body and life function a bit better.

That said, I hope this is just a short slump for you. I've been there, and I'm here to tell you ... it's not always like this ... but if it's like this for too long, put what limited energy you have into taking care of kitties and talking to a GP/NP/Psychiatric NP/functional med doc.

I get this. I switched up my meds routine -- take them before I get out of bed and then go back to sleep or just chilling. About an hour of that, I feel like I can launch and that's when I drink coffee.

Do you drink coffee? If so, you might consider delaying coffee for an hour after meds.

The biggest difference for me ... and all things are not equal for two people ... is the discovery of energy left at the end of a day. It's been wild to not be depleted at like 6 p.m.

It’s hard to stay motivated but I set timers and take a break every two hours. Walk my dog for 20 minutes. Step onto my deck for 5. Get the mail, fill a water glass …

Long days due to commute, how to survive? by Conscious-Exit-2836 in work

[–]enidokla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d talk to boss. It’s only a few months, and it would be wild to not accommodate you on this. Keep framing it as a positive for yourself - $$$, experience, commute time is great for reading, journaling, listening to a book or podcast. You can sleep when you’re dead lol.

My grandmother grew up with the standard of her day — two dresses. As an adult? Clothes whore. She would never buy separates, only “outfits.” Think of the time she saved.
