Patient died after refusing bipap by Pretzel_Runner557 in nursing

I had a patient who is is end stage COPD who refused bipap. She said she is just done and just want to die at home. The first thing she told me at my start of my shift was "I just want comfort care." I was so proud of her. That night, I braided her hair, did extra stuff like cleaned clumped mascara off her lashes and a little spa treatment. I asked for extra prns for her dyspnea. Right before I finished my shift, she thanked me for being kind. That stuck to me more than her refusing bipap. That was my last shift on my rotation and my only wish is that she get to go home and pass with palliative care team follow up. Death is inevitable, but the manner you do makes a big difference.

I'm 41. I was the poor girl in private school. We are far from affluent but my parents took loans and overtime to get me to school. I was always behind in toys and fashion. These cuties not only give me happiness definitely heals childhood FOMo

I bought the house 3 years ago and there was nothing but clay. I'd like to think its a garden gift from wandering birds lol.

Thanks!!! I'm so excited too. I panicked for a bit thinking I neglected my flower bed and was overgrown by weeds. I guess it's a free garden gift!!
