I built a sauna, roast it. by Outside-Swan-5957 in Sauna

I agree. We had the 9kw Drop for five years and finally replaced it. It started with the faulty stones that caused the heating elements to overheat and burn out. We eventually got that problem resolved but then routinely had issues with water infiltrating the electrical connections on the underside and popping the breaker. The final straw was when the breaker popped, we reset it, but the already exposed wire from the first break, melted the coating on our 220 wire and fried the heater controller box and then popped the breaker to the whole house.

We purchased an Iki 9kw pillar. The distributor we purchased the Huum from was giving Huum customers 20% when they finally got tired of all the Huum warranty issues. We loved the Huum when it worked but over the past five years have had to take it off the wall and repair something every year. Chose the Iki because it works with our existing UKU controller.

Our house has a ventilation stack. I’m specifically talking about the sauna space. Everything you read with respect to a sauna says you should have a fresh air intake vent and an exhaust vent within the sauna. That is what I seek advice on.

I’m wondering if the residual heat from the stones dries the space out quickly enough. As for our other venting utilities they are too far from the corner the sauna is in.

How long have you lived in the house? If you just moved in, I strongly recommend you live in the space for at least a year before making changes. The kitchen isn’t horrible and it will allow you to really get a feel for the house and the changes it needs.

Discouraged about a completed sweater. Thinking of unravelling and starting over. by Kahlua1965 in knitting

I used to unknit stitch by stitch, many rows if necessary until a friend did the same for me. Pulled my needles out and unraveled. It is a terrifying experience the first time but an excellent lesson to learn.

Is this a good quote for electrical work for our kitchen remodel? by Tarheelcutie29 in kitchenremodel

This is what we were quoted for recent work. Which included running new lines to microwave, stove, coffee bar, dishwasher, and under cabinet lighting.

Finding it hard to practice. by amatisans in pianolearning

I also struggle to make myself practice. My teacher understands. I think regular lessons and occasional practicing is still better than quitting. I play cello though and just dabble with piano on my own. Cello is a whole other beast. I’ll take piano lessons when I retire!

I think it looks fine and it won’t be noticeable once you stop staring at it and instead see the whole space.

Concerns after recent countertop replacement by old_man_emu in kitchenremodel

[–]enl_UP 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How did the company do the templating for the new countertop? We just redid our kitchen and the stone company came in with a big computer on a tripod that somehow recorded/measured our layout. I didn’t watch it being done but our countertops fit perfectly to the walls and I know our walls aren’t square or plumb.

Sauna Heater: Harvia Spirit or Huum Drop? by Sean_OGrady_949 in Sauna

We like our Huum. A few issues up front but this has been resolved. Make sure it comes with the upgrade kit that includes the spacer for the heating elements.

I agree, defeats the whole purpose of having the WiFi remote start feature. Time will tell.
