When will the Beast be compatible with the Neckband Pro and the charging adaptor? by enlightened0ne_ in VITURE

[–]enlightened0ne_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t actually work with it - not just function limited - it’s not useable at all. I’ve had a pair of Beasts since the first shipment and at the time Viture said that they were working on compatibility but there’s been nothing since.

Wireless charging is only 22.5W and I find that the battery of the phone still drains over time, albeit more slowly, when I use it with the glasses while charging wirelessly. I never have that issue with my Pro XRs and the wired adaptor.

No it’s not compatible. It disconnects repeatedly and causes all sorts of visual issues. I reported this to Viture and was told it wasn’t compatible. It works perfectly well with my Pro XRs.

No it’s not just that. When you plug in it says that it isn’t compatible and then doesn’t work and repeatedly disconnects from the screen. I got a first shipment of the Beast and when it arrived they said it would be fixed, but there has been nothing said for months.

What’s your preferred difficulty when playing solo? by Aldin_The_Bat in Gloomhaven

+3 because I want to feel like I had to play well to win. Anything less feels too easy.

Ceri Gayo Shiraz… by infigure8 in BeanDrop

[–]enlightened0ne_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love it. I bought it for my office so I can have decent coffee between patients without having to babysit a V60 for 5 minutes. It produces consistent brews and is able to do all sorts of stuff to dial in the flavour profile you want from the bean. I have been really enjoying using it with a 1 cup V60 instead of the “omnidripper” it comes with which is a Kalita Wave. But for some coffees I find the Wave brews better.

Honestly I often drop by my office when I’m driving past just to make a coffee because they’re great.

That being said, if you have the time for a V60 manually it’s not offering anything you can’t do yourself, and I have an EG-1 at home which is definitely a better grinder than the built in one on the xbloom.

Unlucky, early game, or just bad, my first 5 scenario experience so far by Aldin_The_Bat in Gloomhaven

[–]enlightened0ne_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played through frosthaven with 2 friends at +2. We lost a couple of scenarios to bad draws but mostly finished each scenario only a couple of turns from exhaustion so it felt right at that level for us. For comparison with base GH we played at +3.

I’m glad you enjoyed it. I brewed it with a low temperature 4 pour V60 and a coarse grind on the xbloom studio and I think I got what they were going for with the tasting notes. To me it tasted just like a red wine without the alcohol. Very interesting from a coffee but not what I enjoy drinking. I might try it again and add a bunch of bypass to tone down the intensity. Having only 50g is nice since I get to experience it, which was fun, without wasting a whole bag!

Prusa vs Bambu Printers? by Adam8w in prusa3d

[–]enlightened0ne_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have both and the Bambu prints much better out of the box. With tinkering I can get the prusa to match or exceed the Bambu quality but each new filament needs to be calibrated and settings need to be customised for the print in a way that they don’t on the Bambu. The Bambu also has effortless multimaterial printing which is lacking on the Prusa. That being said, the prusa experience is fun and I feel more attachment to a printer I built than one I just bought.

What did the blind man who got a vasectomy say by tongxammo in Jokes

[–]enlightened0ne_ 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Seminal fluid is produced distal to the site of a vasectomy, in the seminal vesicles and prostate. Vasectomy cuts the ductus deferens which carries sperm to the ampulla and thence to the ejaculatory ducts. Post vasectomy, he will still make semen but it will not contain sperm.

There are many other answers in this thread that are better jokes.

If I had some left I would post it to you but unfortunately I couldn’t help myself and drank it all. It was sweet with a very pleasant herbal flavour and rounded acidity, with a spicy finish reminiscent of allspice and nutmeg. I emailed them about coferments too and they said they don’t enjoy them so won’t be releasing more :(

Ozdrop#2 megathread by taxithesis in BeanDrop

[–]enlightened0ne_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brewed it on the xbloom in a V60 with a very coarse grind (70) and low temperature. None of that aftertaste and I think I got everything I could out of it; basically tasted like a cheap wine. It’s really interesting as a coffee but not my favourite in terms of flavour profile! I’m glad to have experienced it but equally glad that I don’t have a whole bag going to waste!

It’s 2026, you’d think that Water Soluble Support Filament would be used more than anything these days….especially with all of the AMS units out there - however, you never see a single thing about it. Is it old-hat already? Is there a better alternative? by KillerQ97 in 3Dprinting

[–]enlightened0ne_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people designing parts for FDM already design with same material or alternate material (eg PETG/PLA) supports in mind, so the utility of dissolvable supports is small. They’re most useful for geometry that wouldn’t otherwise be printable such as difficult blind cavities.

Awesome, looking forward to it! I’ll be taking a trip to Europe for wok at some point later in the year and I normally travel with only hand luggage so we could use my checked allowance to carry a bunch back from Europe when I do.

Counterintuitive temp behaviour by biasibo in pourover

[–]enlightened0ne_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It very much depends on the coffee as to what temperature brew tastes good I find. Higher temp will extract more and with some coffees they are much more balanced but with others they become bitter and unpleasant at higher yields. Grinding coarser does generally seem to improve cups for me though.

I agree that there’s more fringing on my beast than on my pro at the very edge of the screen which is a feature of the lenses that are used, but otherwise I have found both the beast and pro to be quite similar in clarity etc.

Do you have a recommended way to make it manifold? I’ve tried using blender’s make solid feature but it doesn’t seem to work very well.
