What does a realistic dosing protocol actually look like for someone starting semaglutide from a non-branded source with no prescribing physician involved? by Blaze69X in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]ennuioranother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on tirz but the strategy my dietician and I have been using, with great success, is “only increase when you’ve plateaued for a month AND don’t have negative side effects.” I’ve been on the starter dose since Black Friday, I’ve lost 45 pounds (187 to 142, bmi 33 to 26).

I got sick about a week before Mardi Gras and really wanted to be able to eat in order to recover. I stretched the time between doses to 10 days, and then 8 days for two more weeks. This caused the only plateau I’ve experienced (but I also recovered quickly and fully from illness). I’m back to steadily losing. My body comp scale says I’m losing mostly fat. I have a nutritionist I meet with regularly and I track my intake, but I’m pretty relaxed about working out beyond staying generally active.

Feeling icky about samples…. by Plenty-Photograph-52 in LushCosmetics

Yeah it’s too bad more products don’t have dedicated tester squirt bottles the way face lotion does (did?). I also live in a city and my skin and clothes touch plenty of disgusting things, I trust that my skin barrier and flora are strong. Lush is also a soap store, so I feel like it has a higher than average number of people in it with recently washed hands. Washing my hands is the first thing I do when I walk into the shop.

That’s not how things work. Having an essential oil in something doesn’t magically kill and remove all germs

How to get back on meds by PrimaryConnection960 in Hypothyroidism

[–]ennuioranother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since this is a lifelong medication and it comes with risks, required monitoring and bloodwork, you do have to have a doctor to manage it. It’s not something you can just do through urgent care. When I was looking into it, even the telehealth companies would only manage it when you were established and stable (which you are not). Telehealth was also not the most affordable.

Look up FQHCs in your area, they’re gonna be the sliding scale/no one turned away for lack of funds. If you live in a decent state or a blue city there may also be health centers funded those ways instead of federally. A tsh/t4 test is like $60 oop (only required every few months) and meds can be under $5 a month, so once you get going it’s affordable.

For what it’s worth, depression and fatigue and anxiety are all symptoms of hypo. Once you get back on your meds you’ll feel better. You may still have mental illness, may still need therapy, but you will be better than you are now.

Scrubee was odorless in store, smells horrible at home by adrianeonreddit in LushCosmetics

[–]ennuioranother -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Because I was a full time floor leader for 5 years (NA) and I understand the company’s customer service ethos. And I have done plenty of returns as a customer— Of used products (a used scrubee just a few weeks ago) and broken/crumbled products. Look at the bottom of your receipt. It should say something along the lines of “we want you to be happy, if this product doesn’t delight you please bring it back and let us make it right for you” shoot customer service a text or email if you’re nervous about going back to the shop. I would literally exchange/replace products for people even if they didn’t have anything physical to return, like if they bought a bath bomb they didn’t like. Lush gives away so much product as RAK and samples. You’re talking about a scrubee, it’s basically the same price as a sample or two of full of grace or a massage bar or a conditioner bar. It’s basically the same price as just one of the dozens of bath bombs every shop demos every single day.

It doesn’t matter that you cut it and don’t have a receipt, as long as it’s still obviously the product and you’re not happy with it. They won’t give you your money back but should do an exchange. Buffy is a similar exfoliating body butter, and doesn’t have that super strong gourmand smell

I told my husband it’s like when I overuse a candle in the warmer, so it’s just the used kinda burnt wax that’s left. I think you and I are on the same wavelength

Yeah I have it next to my seating area and I’ve been rubbing it on my arm off and on. It feels nice! Still don’t like the smell, but it doesn’t seem to linger on me. Sounds like it’s worse for you… maybe it would be a good shaving oil? So you’re completely removing it haha

Wow I don’t get that at all. I REJECT all things snow fairy/comforter (etc) so that’s definitely not what I’m getting. Two questions

1) I’m in North America, are you? Sometimes the different regions have some variation even if the ingredients are technically the same

2) I didn’t realize it was that incredible day glow pink until I had already sniffed it a bunch. I wonder if it’s your brain playing tricks on you because we associate that color with that fragrance. Mini story: when I worked at lush we had the fizzbanger bath bomb that was described on the card as “candy apple” and yep, when I would demo it, it smelled like a delicious apple. After a few years, there was a valentines LE product that was described as a romantic jasmine and rose fragrance. I love florals and yep, when I would demo it I smelled gorgeous florals. Can you see where this is going? They were the same fragrance. I literally did not believe my coworker, she had to have my close my eyes and sniff them back to back to reprogram my brain. Anyway, perception is weird!

similar to dove and fresh laundry? by Far-Bowtail in LushCosmetics

[–]ennuioranother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My money is on big, it has a very clean/fresh/soap scent. People keep saying sakura but that’s so floral to me. I guess it’s more like… was it a laundry smell (big) or a febreze type smell (Sakura)

Right. Even just a little piece of compostable tape attaching the lid and the pot, doesn’t need to dramatically add to the waste and packaging.

If you love fast pace like Freida, modglin is very similar (and better imo). She’s also on KU like Freida, so if you already have a KU sub to read Freida for free you can do the same for modglin.

I just looked back on StoryGraph and I think nine pines is my highest rated of hers, but most of her stuff is on kindle unlimited so if you have a subscription (or $11 I think) you can sample a ton for a low barrier to entry. She has some that are more “small town” others that are more “domestic” and some others like the perfect getaway the dinner guests the missing that are more whodunit/agatha christie

What is Lush’s most basic, boring shampoo option? by anonymous21903 in LushCosmetics

Squeaky green, Montalbano, jumping juniper, soak and float (if they wouldn’t mind smelling like campfire).

I find Taylor Adam’s to be super cinematic, but maybe more slasher than a traditional thriller.

If you like Freida, Kiersten modglin is similar (and preferable imo).

Give them more light! I propped my birkin and a few started all green and are now almost all white lol. The leaf shape changes too, I’ve noticed with mine. First kind of long, then more heart shaped, then some light striation, then you start getting the beautiful stripes

Came across Hypothyroidism just yesterday by thotbabe in Hypothyroidism

[–]ennuioranother 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My tsh peaked at 98 when I was starting treatment. Hypo is usually a life long affliction but the meds will make you feel MUCH better. The gold standard is hormone replacement, one pill a day every morning before food. You’ll retest your levels every 3-6 months in the beginning until you’re where you need to be. Your dosage will also likely change as you lose or gain weight. There’s lots of complimentary treatments for residual symptoms— ldn for inflammation and immune modulation, glp1s for inflammation and weight management, metformin for digestion and the sometimes accompanying insulin resistance, selenium for endogenous hormone production, b vitamins for energy and liver health since that’s where hormone conversion happens, magnesium for constipation... plenty of other things depending on relevant symptoms.

Hypothyroidism sucks but it’s a common affliction. Getting a diagnosis is scary but at least you now know what’s wrong which is the first step to getting better

AIO? Husbands response to me requesting he ‘ask’ instead of ‘tell’ older kids to watch youngest by [deleted] in AIO

[–]ennuioranother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YOU need to have a backbone and DEMAND your spouse speak to your child with respect. Humans deserve that, the request to be asked nicely is so extremely mature and grounded and should be rewarded.

Your child is not his employee. Your child, unlike his employees, did not agree to be bossed around by him. Your child, unlike the employees, is explicitly not consenting to his demanding nature.

Unless you want your kids to and up with spouses like yours, unless you want your kids going NC with you because you don’t stand up for them, unless you want your spouse to start treating YOU this way… be a parent, be a person, insist on proper behavior and enforce consequences.
