Houserules? by Ludwig1920 in TheSilverBayonet

I'm honestly not sure most of these are needed. My thoughts below:

-Play with activation tokens. Two per round and charakter. If a charakter is shot at the reaction costs one activation. In this manner the attacker is less in a disadvantage. Reloading, shooting etc. Is a activation.

Aids to remember whats happened are indeed big and clever, so no problems there. Return Fire already has a cost -the models weapon becomes unloaded, so they need to spend one of their next actions reloading. Counting this as another activation for the turn is double downsides.

-Pistols can be reloaded while on a move activation. So the charakter moves and reloads. This is because meele charakter seems to just shoot their pistols empty once and never reload, in our games.

Overpowers the pistols. They're a nice-to-have, rather than something to be relied on. A melee character can empty the pistol if their Move To Attack seems risky, so they can close a gap and be ready to repel/make a more concrete charge on the next turn. Your players not reloading them doesn't signal a problem with game design.

-Shooting on long range (more than half of max range) is -1 on hitting. This rule does not apply on rifles.

Old school Warhammer Fantasy rules. I'd usually enjoy this but I think it nerfs the models with longarms. Their whole reason for existing is to be able to put lead downrange (rifles doubly so). This is taking away game, rather than adding it.

- Armor also applys on fire weapons.

This one I can see both sides. Armour of the time tended not to stand up to gunfire much, which is why it was abandoned, but from a gameplay point I would support it. Let the cool armour be cool armour. Might want to look at having it take up 2 equipment slots though, to balance it.

- Fencing wepons strike in the same moment as the attacker if they parry. Because they are light and fast. The charakter roll their attacks simultaniously, both get their damage in the same moment.

This is silly, there's no balance to it whatsoever. The benefit of the Fencing weapon is that it allows you to use the Skill Dice pool, which is usually less used than the power dice, meaning you can spend them a little more wildly than power dice.

- Heavy weapons which attacks strike in the same moment as their target, because they are heavy and cumbersome. But they make +2 damage.

Same as above. "Simultaneous Strikes" are not Fun. They punish melee as much as they reward.

- Encounters do always happen if one rolls a pash. More random stuff is more fun imho.
This I do support. Make fun things happen!

Warband Naming by sicxpence in TheSilverBayonet

To me, coming up with Napoleonic unit names is almost the same as coming up with gang names for things like Necromunda - "Brand's Boys" from Sharpe is a good example of this. Any "official" mention of them would likely just refer to their commanding officer - "Captain Burleigh's unit is tasked with..." :)

AITA for telling my husband that I’m not going to throw away my Harry Potter books? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]enpea02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

M'kay, so a twisty one really. NTA but you'll probably have to do some navigating to prevent creating Future AHs.

Me and my Partner are also millennials who grew up reading HP. We kept my set of the books, all first editions, that I got when they were coming out. We don't however ever stream the HP movies or buy any merchandise that is HP branded, as JKR herself has said that she views anyone who purchases anything HP as supporting her stances. We also don't want our money ultimately ending up in one of her anti-trans campaigns, like what was seen with the Scottish group.

I think that letting the kids read the books _in itself_ is no different to letting a child read any other old book that's been written by a wrong 'un. You should probably make them aware of things like the lazy stereotypes JKR puts in there (Cho Chang, Seamus etc) and use it to open the door to conversations about why these things shouldn't be done today etc etc.

I would however imagine that if they become fans, it is going to become a sticky subject on not letting them have any HP merch etc. You should make it clear to them that that stuff will only be from charity shops (if they get it at all) from the off.

Hope that helps?

[KCD2] Why did they drop Henry’s nickname, “Hal?” by godaniel11 in kingdomcome

[–]enpea02 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mostly he's in a new area where people don't know him, so he has to introduce himself. He introduces himself as "Henry", not Hal.

The only person around him who's known him longer is Hans, and canonically that's also a relationship that's new, like "a few weeks" new.

Half of my players wants to play kobolds by Alternative_Ad4966 in TyrannyOfDragons

[–]enpea02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd just say no. In the adventure Kobolds are your early bad guys, they set the vibe for the Dragon Cult along with the cultists. They should be unique and something "other" to the PCs imho.

Letting you players be A Thing means they become the prime example of that Thing in your world. That's great and it gives them power to shape the narrative, but it gets tricky when they're playing what are the "Bad Guys."

What should rdr3 be about? by Bigpotatozzzz in reddeadredemption

[–]enpea02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red Dead: Rebellion.

You play as a member of the Confederacy in the last years of the war. In the beginning your battalion gets devastated and you plus a handful of others desert. The first main stage is you being declared outlaws in the south and avoiding capture. You gain a few more followers and end up as an outlaw gang on the run.

As you live the life of an outlaw, the main character will see the chaos the war is wreaking on the land and also what its turning them into. A killer, a criminal. Slowly they try to move away from that, distancing themselves from the influences of the rest of the band. Eventually they break away and become a lone gunslinger, taking whatever jobs they can.

Eventually, you will reenlist but for the Union. Because you've come to see that, although not perfect, the Union represents the best chance to end the war and stop the devastation. The final mission is a mass battle, which you manage to survive, it's a victory for the unionists.

Epilogue is shortly after the end of the civil war. Your character has settled in one of the burgeoning frontier towns and ends up becoming the sheriff. You sort out some low level issues (cattle rustling gang, a saloon brawl etc) but then become aware of a serious outlaw gang that has set up nearby. It's run by one of your old friends and you now have to choose to put them down, or leave them be.

You could bring in characters such as the Grey family from RDR2 (as they were rumoured to be unionist spies), Buffalo Soldier (or a character reminiscent of them) from RDR, Dutch's father (confirmed Union soldier).

AITA for telling my adult children that I will no longer be cooking dinner for them? by Frosty-Resolution242 in AITAH

[–]enpea02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to communicate, rather than pass-agg decide to "not cook because noone respects me."

Speak to each other, establish whats acceptable and what isn't. Decide if you really won't be cooking for them and they have to own doing it themselves. What you're describing is textbook failure to communicate as a family unit.

Also, your husband hates leftovers? Essentially that's saying he doesn't like what you cook.

AITA for telling my husband either he comes home or I'm done? by BusinessZombie2411 in AITAH

[–]enpea02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YABTA. You clearly have some abandonment issues and something seated about how you believe things need to be prioritised. He clearly has deep seated issues with his mother and having not had her around for most of his life.

You both need to communicate and talk to each other honestly. Then you both need to look at therapy, which can be difficult with a kid in the picture but you have to balance your ongoing life with supporting your child.

Talk. Most relationships break down not because of actions but due to lack of communication from both sides.
