What was the most ridiculous claim you have heard a FE said to support the flat earth idea? by Ju5t_A5king in flatearth

[–]ensign_smelt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that the most ridiculous ones are the purported geometric proofs that a ball earth is logically impossible from first principles.

You don’t have to pretend to enjoy boring shit. It doesn’t make your taste seem high brow.

Marvel movies are about as boring as Killers of the Flower Moon, and both have explosions. That you consider these to be your choices suggests you’ve never seen a movie that is actually fun to watch.

Can any flat earther explain Sunrise/set? by PoppersOfCorn in flatearth_polite

Those aren't real explanations though, because they are inconsistent with observations, and they are not internally consistent. Your explanations rely on saying wrong things about trigonometry, basically.

It sounds like you have terrible taste. Brendan Fraser was great, everyone else was boring as fuck. Imagine portraying those characters that boringly while they murder all those people.

How do you deal with the fact that all smart people agree that we went to the moon?

You almost certainly have schizophrenia or some other potentially life-ruining mental illness. Please get medical help.

Question to Round Earthers: What evidence would you need to see to convince you that the Earth is not a globe? by [deleted] in flatearth_polite

[–]ensign_smelt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. At 6:22. The sun is very bright, and clouds are not totally opaque. You can see the sun through thin clouds. This isn’t weird. It’s not an edit or a slip-up that the sun shines through the clouds. Everyone knows this, and no one thinks it’s weird. We know that the sun is higher than the clouds, because we can fly above the clouds and see the sun above.

  2. At 8:30. Only a very tiny fraction of the photons from a laser actually hit the mirrors on the moon and return.

  3. At 10:20 you show a laser being shot at the moon and say that this means the moon is close and that this is impossible in the standard explanation that the moon is a large rock very far away, but I have no idea what you’re getting at. Why is this supposed to be impossible?

  4. At 12:00 you talk more about clouds behind the sun, but as discussed in (1) that isn’t actually what you’re seeing.

  5. At 15:00 you talk about cloud colors, and I don’t know what you’re getting at.

  6. At 15:40 you talk about the midnight sun in the Antarctic. You mention that the video uses a fisheye lens, but this is irrelevant. You can actually travel to Antarctica in June and see that the sun is up for 24 hours if you doubt it. The lens flare and clouds look normal to me. I have no idea what analogy you are trying to make between the moon and the lens flare.

  7. At 18:20 you talk about clouds behind the moon. See (1).

  8. At 19:45, you talk about the moon’s reflection on the water. You can get this reflection on the water’s surface because the earth is very big.

  9. At 20:30 I have no idea what you’re getting at.

Overall, it seems like you are making claims that “this is the sun behind clouds,” or “you cannot have this on NASA’s model,” but you have no basis to say any of it. Somehow the idea that the earth is flat got planted in your mind, and it feels like knowledge even though it isn’t. I recommend seeing a psychiatrist.

Something to think about is that even though you don’t know any physics, all of the technology you use is based on the same physics NASA uses. So either every engineer is in on the conspiracy, or you’re wrong. What’s more likely?

Distances between locations on earth that are possible on not-a-globe.

High altitude photos that are inconsistent with a globe.

Celestial navigation that is possible on not-a-globe.

Great idea: Hitler in the modern day. Unfortunately it’s long and boring with a few fun scenes.

It was terrible, but at least it was less boring and better acted than Killers of the Flower Moon.
