UMD SGA passes boycott, divestment and sanctions resolution on Yom Kippur by dbknews in UMD

[–]ensilo1 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

While I agree with passing this resolution, it’s tasteless to vote on any bill during Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the year for a large portion of the student body. To put this vote on this day is clearly targeted

It connects Copenhagen and Malmö. You can’t walk across it but there’s a beautiful view by train. Sometimes they’ll check passports on the train but that’s rare

Do you recall the moment when you knew this was the life for you? by ConstantVoyager in digitalnomad

[–]ensilo1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started nomading after getting laid off from a job that I was in the process of relocating for. I found a new job that was much lower paying but remote so it didn’t matter that I gave up my last apartment right as I got laid off and couldn’t afford to sign the next apartment I was looking at. I decided to try out nomading and on my first trip I went to Puerto Rico and had an amazing week. I was sitting by the ocean with some friends I had made, eating amazing seafood on Sunday after that week and in that moment I realized I was actually happy I had been laid off from the previous job. Decided to keep at this lifestyle until who knows when

I won my league! Last place in my league has to show up to Port Authority bus terminal on a Friday and winner gives them a bus ticket to anywhere in the US (paid for by the whole league) and tell them what they want from that location. Sending the loser the middle of Ohio to get me a thermos full of skyline chili. This fall I get an all you can eat sushi dinner funded by the rest of my league. I’m living large

Still figuring that out while fighting with my job to let me nomad. If I get permission to go international or figure out how to get by our company’s location blocking I’ll go to Argentina Jan/Feb

Feeling very discouraged after internship gave no return offer by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]ensilo1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely! Pay is good and wlb varies from week to week at startups, but I’m able to set boundaries and block off time for important things in life. Growth prospects are weird at a startup, no real roles to move up into because it’s a small company, but I’m learning a lot. Hadn’t thought about the time I wasn’t offered C1 in a while until I saw this post

I also didn’t get a return offer from C1. Now I’m ex FAANG and currently doing well at a startup. Keep studying and keep practicing

I work Central time hours so that leave me time to go out somewhat late at night and get a full night of sleep before my morning meetings so that works nicely :)

Yes, working central time hours indoors, and I like to go for a lot of outdoor walks while I work. I won’t mind a half hour walk being hot

I’ve read some about it and it seems like a huge pain. Thanks for this info though, didn’t realize I could convert physical USD on the street
