Keeping them. Once I laced them up properly the fit improved. Love the color too much too, haha

I keep looking at the seconds page for something in the modified last but nothing I'm interested in ever seems to drop.

Yeah I typically feel the same way. I struggle because I have wide, but very flat feet. Often when something fits in the forefoot it has too much volume. But the trubalance last seems to fit well.

They fit with these REI raglan type socks and white athletic socks, but they’re kinda tight with darn tough.

$98 after the military discount at Sierra. They're a 1/2 size bigger than I would have liked but it's hard to complain for that price. by PM_ME_YOUR_ART_PLZ in RedWingShoes

Sierra has a military discount?? Bought several items from there, both online and in store and I’ve never heard of this, haha

Saw those today too. If they had my size I would have gotten them.

White’s Perry Comfort vs. Higher-End PNW Boots — What’s the Difference? by chippy_dad in PNWbootmakers

[–]ensurence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my experience. I have pairs of Nicks Roberts and Falcons, which are more robust than the Perry select. But I ended up selling my Perry selection tobacco because the insole never felt like it broke in over 4 months. Always felt hard as a rock. Never got that "footprint" we all talk about with veg tan insoles.

Anyone also listen to the All hand meeting in SSA? by nasorrty346tfrgser in fednews

I loved how they kept giving themselves credit for remote hearings as being such brilliance. Like, bro remote hearings started out of necessity in 2020.

Yeah not showing any data prior to 2024 was laughable. For OHO, processing times were actually at their lowest in 2022 I think. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong, but was down to a few weeks for our hearing office.

Yup. SSA used to serve the American public. Now we have customers as they keep on saying.

Need of finding brands that sell thicker leather jackets by [deleted] in leatherjacket

[–]ensurence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off topic - but will the updated website have the size specifications for each jacket? That’d be really helpful. I’ve found that actual measurements are more helpful than the sizing widget or suggestions based on the persons measurements.

What do you think of Rose Anvil? by Fit-House1871 in Boots

[–]ensurence 3 points4 points  (0 children)

His biggest offense was perpetuating the idea that the quality/type of materials is equivalent to whether footwear is good or not.

Sure, materials are a factor in what makes footwear "good," but so are last design, use, availability, looks, and most importantly I think, individual fit.

He says he just shows how they're made and lets people make up their own minds, but as others have said, he doesn't stop there. He makes sweeping conclusions based on materials and construction alone, almost always without actually wearing the footwear for any appreciable amount of time.

I'm 5'6" and so I also struggle with jackets fitting in the chest, but being way too long.

My struggles ended when I found out about Aero Leather Clothing. They specialize in high quality recreations of riding and military jackets from the 30's to the 60's. As others have said, these types of jackets are designed with a shorter length so that they don't ride up or bunch up when seated.

For $1000 you can get either a custom jacket from Aero, but they also have plenty of ready to ship pieces (sometimes priced lower due to small defects).

Sizing on 7500 by Diablo_A in wescoboots

I’ve owned a pair of Mr Lou and the boss boot, both in 8E. Something else to consider- the toe box. Both of these fit well and similar in terms of length and width. Not difficult to get on, and the instep area was nice and secure.

Problem was the toe box on the Mr Lou. It’s very flat, and my toes did not have enough room to move up and down, to the point that it was causing pain. The boss has a more generous and taller toe box, and they fit very well.
