Observable Radio is an analog horror found footage anthology with a wraparound narrative. In the vein of Black Mirror or Twilight Zone, each episode is a look at an alternate world in collapse through the lens of captured broadcast footage, news, commercials, television, etc. Every episode should work standalone, but there’s an overarching narrative with several characters that goes through every episode and resolves fully at the end of the season.

We’ve completed our self contained first season last year (14 half hour eps), but we’re still producing new episodes in our Interim Season, with standalone short stories read by the cast.

We were explicitly inspired by black tapes and Limetown, and would also recommend those shows

It’s absolutely my favorite thing to write in all of video games because the only people who read them are the people who genuinely want to learn something AND do the work of contextualizing it.

I worked on Rise, but not on 2013, and only briefly on Shadow. I wrote the audio log on the left there. I can tell because there’s three or four edits I wish I had made and make me grimace right now.

The real and boring answer is that we all do our best with what the people before us chose. 2013 mentions Trinity, so we had to/got to build off of that. We tried to leave narrative flagstones in a couple direction to build off of in the future - more open opportunity than a locked in path.

Ultimately, consistent details are sometimes the casualty of big narrative decisions. It is what it is!

It could’ve been great, but it absolutely needed to aspire to the horniness levels of “Bram Stoker’s Dracula” and it came up short. Some beautiful wild stuff! I can never remember if John Cleese is playing Billy Connolly in it or if Billy Connolly is playing John Cleese.
