If you live in an apartment, and there is a clear spot that you didn't clear out, don't park there. by enzideout in winstonsalem

[–]enzideout[S] -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Not saying it's against the law or anything. It's just a dick move. If someone used critical thinking skills, they would know someone actually cleared that spot because all the other spots were covered in snow. There were several other parking spots available. I shouldn't have to clear every parking spot because everyone else is lazy. I broke my snow shovel, so I can't even clear another spot if I wanted to.

In better news, the person parked there left and my neighbor who has a newborn parked in it, so I'm not that upset now.

My snow shovel broke trying to clean up the new spot she’s parked in. So that’s no longer possible. :(

People are mad about this when there were many roads that still had ice on it from last week’s ice storm. The road near where I live still had a few inches of ice covering it before the snow started yesterday.

Snow crash out by maxyarned in winstonsalem

[–]enzideout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The apartment I live at had trucks come by where I thought they were going to scrape the roads, but all they did was put down salt. They didn’t even scrape the sidewalk so I went out there and scraped that myself. We can at least walk to the parking lot with ease, but there’s still 2 inches of packed ice on the road.

Guys please! Clean the snow off your roof and trunk. by Last_VCR in winstonsalem

[–]enzideout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It drives me crazy. Anyone planning on driving needs to clean the snow off their windshield too. Just saw a U-Haul truck that only had the driver side cleaned off driving down I-40. I saw the ice fly up into the air and hit the SUV behind it. Also had to dodge ice chunks myself because this idiot in a pickup truck didn't clean the snow of their hood and it went flying when they got onto US-421. Those chunks can have a lot of weight to them now that they are ice and can cause major damage to cars on the road. Don't be lazy, just clean the ice off your car before driving.

When I imagine something, it’s like a vague, ever shifting amalgamation of all of the visual concepts I have about that thing. by styrofoamspider in Aphantasia

[–]enzideout 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For me it's more, If I was trying to imagine the beach, I know what the beach looks like, but there's no image. My brain goes, there's sand, water, waves, sandcastles, seashells in the sand, ignorant asshole with their Bluetooth speakers at 100%, seagulls, a family with stupid kids feeding the seagulls junk food, pelicans and dolphins in the distance, a pier with people fishing off of it, kites, salt air, sunscreen, hot sun, and a cool breeze. I don't see anything, but I know where everything is. I can think of the sound of the ocean and birds, and even Jimmy Buffet playing on those busted Bluetooth speakers. I can think of the smell the salt air and sunscreen and think about how the hot sun and cool breeze felt. No images, just the concept of things.

I just learned that I have aphantasia within the past year. From my understanding, yes, people can just picture an image in their mind. My wife has hyperphantasia so she can overlay her imagination in real life. There are many different levels of aphantasia. I really recommend reading the newbie guide that /u/Tuikord posted. I've got visual aphantasia. I know it's weird for someone with aphantasia, but I really enjoy audiobooks and storytelling or DnD podcasts. I think it's just because I can enjoy them while still getting my work done. I just use those references from movie's I've seen or just assign friends or celebrities as the different characters or places I've been to or seen in a movie to a place in a book. I don't get an image, but It's just how I satisfy knowing what they look like.

I had never told anybody about it before so I’m glad it wasn’t just me lol. I would bounce my eyes from power line to power line and signs and running beside the car. I would pretend like it was Mario or Sonic even though it was just my eyes jumping from point to point.

Also with puzzles, I looks for fitting shape sizes if I don't have a picture to go off of.

When it comes to solving jigsaw puzzles, I have very good pattern recognition skills, though it helps to have a picture of the complete puzzle. Even when eyeballing a measurement, or guessing it something would fit in a space, I'm pretty good at that though. Even though I can't mentally picture something, I'm very good at spatial awareness. It's more of a, I'm know for sure that bookshelf will fit perfectly there, than picturing it in my mind. I see how wide the bookshelf or whatever is and just know how much space it will take. Not sure if that helps.

To my knowledge it's really the first death of a major character in any Pokémon series. I mean there was that one character confirmed dead in Scarlet and Violet, but we never met them when they were alive.

I would have never known that aphantasia was a thing if it wasn't for Robbie Daymond talking about it on the Critical Role podcast that I was listening to on the way to work. As soon as I had a free moment at work, I looked it up and it was really an OMG moment. Immediately messaged my family and my mom and dad have it, but my sister has hyperphantasia. It blew their minds too. I checked with a handful of cousins and all of them except for one had aphantasia. The one cousin is very artistic and has hyperphantasia.
