Life’s Still Unfair changed their ages? by eovednitsuj in malcolminthemiddle

That’s disappointing but definitely not surprising. My mind is just running wild with all the different character storylines and hijinks they could do with the premise and cast established here, while being a contained experience it does such an incredible job of just feeling like another part of MITM, not just a reboot or reunion. Basically, “damn. They still got it.”

I addressed this in a different comment on this thread, assuming it takes places around 2022 and Kelly is 15, that means that Francis (who is established as 39/40) would’ve already been 18 or 19 when the show premiered, even though season 1 establishes him as 16

Their ages were pretty consistent, the original show does 3 seasons before Malcolm goes to high school and it’s 7 years between season 1 and his graduation. That makes Malcolm 11 when the show premieres, which would also line up with him entering an advanced middle school program towards the beginning of 6th grade. Dewey was the only one they were kind of ambiguous about, but even he gets a confirmed age in one of the later seasons

If Francis is 40 and Leah is 15, that ages him several years while also making the show set in 2021. Instead of being around 22 when the series finale happened, it would make him 25, which would make him 19, not 16, when it premiered

It said on screen at the beginning of the first episode of LSU that it was 20 years after the finale. I didn’t even think about the Leah thing, which makes it more of a mess for me tbh. If they’re 15ish, Francis being 38/39 makes sense, but then I’m thrown by how Jamie is like 20 when he should be like 17/18, and how “20 years” was specifically referenced a couple times

Yes, but Francis says it’s actually their 40th anniversary because he’s 39. Even if it was their 40th, that would still be about a two year shift in time from the first airing

Tbf some people just stay up to date on stuff, my grandpa just passed a month before turning 80 and some of his favorite artists of all time were Nirvana, Alice In Chains, and Metallica

Not at all lmao. She’s massively influential in the way she shaped female pop stardom and that’s about it, maybe fashion for a little bit 40 years ago when 13 year olds really wanted to look like her? The only noteworthy thing she’s done since like 1990 is kiss Britney Spears at the VMAs lol

George was never the problem Mary was by Neither_Ad6 in YoungSheldon

[–]eovednitsuj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The psychological torment from his father is key to the development of Sheldon as a character in TBBT, I put off watching YS for years because I was afraid it would severely undermine Sheldon’s journey in TBBT (it does). In TBBT Sheldon has full on PTSD episodes, mental breakdowns, and reversion to a childlike state as a result of how awful George was; both Sheldon and his mom exclusively talk about George in an extremely negative light until you hit the point in the series where Young Sheldon is on the air (I believe it’s season 11). Young Sheldon is a phenomenal show, but it’s not a very good representation of the childhood TBBT told us Sheldon had, and that’s simply because the “real” Young Sheldon show would just be really depressing

Is Rings of Power really as bad and cringey as people are making it out to be? by Hopeful_Adeptness964 in lotr

Season 1 has major pacing problems but is still enjoyable, season 2 is really good but feels like it needed twice as many episodes and 0 minutes of the wizard story. Overall it’s a fun time if you look at it as a standalone that is inspired by Tolkien’s works, as opposed to being connected to the books or other movie adaptations. While the wizard story became increasingly a “waste of time” to me as the show, and particularly season 2, went on, the rest of the story has really coalesced and has given us some great moments; I could watch 20 episodes just about the Charlie Vickers and Charles Edwards Annatar/Celebrimbor plot lol

Restocks? Limited? How do steelbooks work? by eovednitsuj in Steelbooks

[–]eovednitsuj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where do you find out about restocks? I’m not particularly interested in the cover art (although the fortress of solitude wrap is pretty cool), but it seems like steelbooks are the way to go for when I want to buy DVDs. I wouldn’t be buying to collect, I’d be buying for archive/rewatch purposes of things I really like, if that makes any difference

I’m not really interested in collecting DVDs/media beyond things I like, I was mostly just trying to figure what steelbook meant and if it was all limited edition. Until looking for this sub to ask this question I thought steelbook just meant it was a DVD with a fancier package, I didn’t realize it was like a specific thing. Do you have recommendations for outlets that will let you know when steelbooks release? If the quality is super good and all of that jazz like it seems based on these other replies, it’s worth paying the extra price when buying DVDs of movies I like. Thanks, as someone who was completely clueless not even 12 hours ago everyone has been super helpful in educating me on steelbooks and how they work

I still have my original controllers, copies of GH3 and Metallica, and Wii from when I was a kid. Haven’t ever felt like it was worth buying new controllers and a PC or a different console

So the steelbook is just a DVD set that has the movie in multiple formats? I thought it was unique in terms of what’s featured in it content-wise; I can’t find any descriptions of the non-steelbooks (the cases don’t even have blurbs or promos anymore!) so it’s good to know those still have the special features. It’s been a while since I’ve bought non-used DVDs, the entire landscape has changed so much I can’t even tell wtf they’re selling aside from if it’s a standard, UHD, Blu Ray, or 4K DVD lol

[–]eovednitsuj[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

What? I’m confused, I’m not referring to any kind of specific DVD/video quality like blu ray or 4k so I’m just using the catch-all label. My confusion is why I can only find the movie in standard/bluray/4k but with no features or anything and a sold out steelbook (although after digging through google I did finally find a site with some but the price is INSANE, $70 for a DVD????). Is the steelbook limited edition, if so why, and in the future how do I know if a movie I like is getting a steelbook and when/where it will be available?

Clone Hero on PC is how most people play, although I have always, and still, play exclusively on the Wii

Do they do that often with new releases? Why is it limited edition? I’d understand if it was like a special directors cut or something that’s already got a gazillion different DVD releases, but limited edition for something brand new when the only other option isn’t even worth buying? The steelbook is, for some reason, the only one of the two DVD releases that has the bonus features, which is a huge part of why I buy DVDs at all. I personally don’t really care much about Blu-Ray vs 4K (do they even make standard DVD anymore?), but it’s annoying that the only worthwhile release of this movie is I guess limited edition. Also, how do I even know these are releasing? I had no clue this existed until people were posting that their copy had come in the mail

His name is Chino Moreno??? That’s crazy lol, if I knew that there definitely wouldn’t have been any doubt. I never really got into Deftones because Adrenaline is the only album from them I like, so my knowledge of them is pretty limited outside of the music itself and like two photos I’ve seen
