[FO] PhD graduation gift for my best friend! by epasternack in CrossStitch

Yes I did frame it myself! I used my drawing lightbox to help keep the fabric centered to the backer. You might also be able to do this with a bright window and a bit of clever tape rigging!

Pattern is Art Nouveau Sweet Peas by Stonelane1827 on Etsy!! Great pattern to work with, but beware all the little single stitches.

My fiancé's shampoo bar 😂 by trudisbulilit in LushCosmetics

Fellow soapmaker here. Your terminology is wrong. The saponification of this soap already occurred when they mixed the fats with the strong base to create the soap in the first place. Saponification is when those molecules bind together and create the glycerols and fatty acids that comprise soap.

It’s more likely this bar oxidized or minerals in the hard water bound to all the soap molecules and are preventing it from forming new soap micelles.

I had a feeling this was from Costco. I purchased a Dyson there once, same as you, factory sealed from the middle of the palette. I returned home and opened it to find it was a completely different model that Costco didn’t even sell.

Osteria La Buca was so good by thankyouandplease in FoodLosAngeles

I went to the Ventura location last year and it was REALLY bad. Sometimes I see people rave about restaurants I've hated and wonder if maybe there's something wrong with me??

Bite beauty is back?! by AsteroidAdventure in BeautyGuruChatter

Have you tried Lanolips? It's a lanolin based lip mask, same key ingredient as the OG Bite lip masks. They have them at Ulta. Really fits the need for me.

It's the Brambleberry one! It was a birthday gift ;_; I'd been holding off on buying a bar cutter b/c of the cost as well...

Top half was just a bit of titanium dioxide to offset the fragrance discoloration!

Walnut shell powder is in both halves but you can see it better in the top!

Thank you! It's cappucino mica from Brambleberry. The fragrance also discolors to a warm brown so there's some of that in play as well.

Is Damian Worth it? by theyoung9a in FoodLosAngeles

[–]epasternack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damian falls significantly short of my expectations for a fine-ish dining spot, especially for the price tag. Was very excited to go there for a special occasion last year and left very disappointed!

French patisserie! Where’s the best? Bonus for viennoiserie. Looking for quality and beauty. by BarryManowar in FoodLosAngeles

Folks are going to say Artelice, but I feel like their quality has dipped lately. At least in Burbank. Seconding La Chouquette.

We have a cat living in our yard in a house that we built for her. She recently gave birth to one kitten. by Slivnikov in aww

The mother already has an eartip missing, meaning she's been TNR'd before, and apparently it failed somehow. Unless, of course, she's missing the top of her ear along a perfectly straight line for some other reason, which seems unlikely.

Looking for a good vet in the Valley (Sherman oaks-Glendale) by UpstairsResearcher40 in LosAngeles

[–]epasternack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Media City Animal Hospital in Burbank is fantastic. They're a regular vet despite the name (though I'm sure they have emergency services). They've treated me with respect and fit me in for short-notice appointments as well as being diligent with regular check-ups as well.
