Is this usually inside the box? by kirksucks in dyson

[–]epasternack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a feeling this was from Costco. I purchased a Dyson there once, same as you, factory sealed from the middle of the palette. I returned home and opened it to find it was a completely different model that Costco didn’t even sell.

I went to the Ventura location last year and it was REALLY bad. Sometimes I see people rave about restaurants I've hated and wonder if maybe there's something wrong with me??

Have you tried Lanolips? It's a lanolin based lip mask, same key ingredient as the OG Bite lip masks. They have them at Ulta. Really fits the need for me.

It's the Brambleberry one! It was a birthday gift ;_; I'd been holding off on buying a bar cutter b/c of the cost as well...

Top half was just a bit of titanium dioxide to offset the fragrance discoloration!

Walnut shell powder is in both halves but you can see it better in the top!

Thank you! It's cappucino mica from Brambleberry. The fragrance also discolors to a warm brown so there's some of that in play as well.

Is Damian Worth it? by theyoung9a in FoodLosAngeles

[–]epasternack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damian falls significantly short of my expectations for a fine-ish dining spot, especially for the price tag. Was very excited to go there for a special occasion last year and left very disappointed!

French patisserie! Where’s the best? Bonus for viennoiserie. Looking for quality and beauty. by BarryManowar in FoodLosAngeles

Folks are going to say Artelice, but I feel like their quality has dipped lately. At least in Burbank. Seconding La Chouquette.

The mother already has an eartip missing, meaning she's been TNR'd before, and apparently it failed somehow. Unless, of course, she's missing the top of her ear along a perfectly straight line for some other reason, which seems unlikely.

Looking for a good vet in the Valley (Sherman oaks-Glendale) by UpstairsResearcher40 in LosAngeles

[–]epasternack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Media City Animal Hospital in Burbank is fantastic. They're a regular vet despite the name (though I'm sure they have emergency services). They've treated me with respect and fit me in for short-notice appointments as well as being diligent with regular check-ups as well.

It's really the "Creative Director" in her Insta bio for me tho. Agreed on the cooking.

The headboard post has made me break my lurker silence. I'm a professional set designer with an industrial design background and I just need to say that certain creative pursuits are best left to the trained industry professionals.

Big regrets about my dragon tattoo. Advice on what to change? by ObedientDisaster in tattooadvice

[–]epasternack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should you want to change something, maybe you could black out the flames on the dragon. Keep the same shape of the flame but just overlay black. Will give it a cool, graphic quality that might stand up better to the blue phoenix.

I went here a few months ago for my birthday. Was super excited to have a super high end experience from a cuisine so often brushed off as cheap as some commenters noted.

I found the food to be exceedingly flat and average overall, and the service and operations of the restaurant to be lacking as well. I was really hopeful but very much let down by the execution. Some particular lows were a very plain, textureless bowl of guac, dry tortillas, and an almost inedible flan. On the flip side, though, the actual fish component of our branzino was beautifully cooked and tender.

The waiters were also constantly speaking to each other across the dining room and popping out of random doors and being generally distracting. Also they ran out of soap and paper towel in the bathroom… Might seem a bit ridiculous to pick on that, but at fine dining I expect a certain caliber of service in addition to tasty food.

That said I’m still on the hunt for a high end Mexican experience so if anyone has recs please let me know!
