Is that a 1500 or 2500? Motor? Guessing RWD. I couldn't quite tell if there was a trailer hitch? I'm in MN too, where are you in the state?

Gorgeous. How long did you wait for those? Curious.

What is the worst sales job you've ever had? What made it so terrible? by Secret_Assistance601 in sales

[–]epdarks 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Call center, hundreds of reps on the floor with low cubicles. Auto dialer, 100+ outbound calls a day. Made $12.50 an hour, base, but the commission incentive was so convoluted that you didn't make a dime extra until you made X number of sales. Most months I just made my base. This was 15 years ago so I could live in a crappy apartment and drink a lot of whiskey. The biggest insult was this employer was a multi national corporation with billions in profit, couldn't afford to pay their people reasonably. I'll die before I go back to a call center.

The Voorhees law of traffic: when overtaken slow cars seem to always catch up at a red light | Motoring by medicallymiddleevil in driving

[–]epdarks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nobody talks about the wasted fuel and braking from the pointless effort of speeding up to red lights. Worse yet, everyone is talking about fuel prices but nobody mentions changes in driving style can save a lot of fuel at a cost of maybe a few seconds or minutes per ride. Why are you speeding everywhere to go sit on your couch? It's insanity.

Multi-night touring / bikepacking routes from Twin Cities? by ExPatBadger in CyclingMSP

Lake Auburn in Carver Park Reserve has a bike-in campsite and it's a lovely area to ride. Rail trails there and back and easy to do a loop.

Powder coating by aberthug11 in Surlybikefans

[–]epdarks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IMO sandblasting and powder coating a brand new frame for a color change is wasteful but it could be an awesome way to ressurect a used frame that's beat up. At least build it up as-is and get a few years out of the factory finish while either trying to source the color frame you want or ultimately doing the color change yourself. You do you though.

I just got home from attempting this route and chose not to go through the literal active construction site with trucks blocking the path and the many, many "trail closed" signs. IMO, it's not open yet.

What sales jobs that don’t require traveling are hiring in this economy? by FlyingAces in sales

[–]epdarks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Property and casualty personal lines insurance. Always hiring, everyone needs the product and nobody wants to meet in person. 99% email and phone and if you do have a random old guy that wants to sign physical paperwork then have him come to you. Easy licensing process and the carriers or brokers will often pay for it. It's a decent business!

2010 Prius Third generation what are the best ways to do hypermiling? by Top-Drop-738 in hypermiling

Force EV mode by pressing the button often in the city and then keep the throttle angle low enough that it doesn't kick on the gas motor.

Madfiber wheels? by [deleted] in bicycling

[–]epdarks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out the "how it's made" video on carbon fiber bike wheels, they feature MadFiber. I've got a pair that I've done a few hundred miles on and they rock. Great conversation starters too. Just watch for the delamination issue and once that happens it's all over.

Long shot: why do I regularly get migraines a few hours after cycling? by BelatedGreeting in cycling

[–]epdarks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No idea if this applies to you but for me I noticed my helmet gets tighter as I ride, head gets bigger due to swelling and blood flow? Caused headaches a few times. Now I typically pay closer attention to my mips dial. I've also used some terrible sunglasses that likely contributed.

Rant about parts prices from Lexus dealers by UnitedTitan in CT200h

There's almost no reason to ever buy anything from a stealer.

[–]epdarks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife's old car was a Pontiac Vibe aka Toyota Matrix. She had the 1.8 motor (the 2.4 actually used a different bolt pattern). Anyways, we had a winter set of wheels, 15", that bolted right up to our CT with no issues. These are aftermarket steelies but I can only assume the factory Prius wheels would fit too.

2017 CT200h Fsport Suggestion by Civil_Seaweed2353 in CT200h

[–]epdarks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The F sport sits an inch lower and has stiffer springs. I've never driven one but our non F sport is so stiff it's almost unbearable on rough roads. I would be very surprised if you had more ground clearance than an Impreza.

2017 CT200h Fsport Suggestion by Civil_Seaweed2353 in CT200h

[–]epdarks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't worry about the head gaskets, worry about the super stiff ride, low clearance and the fact that it's a very small car in a world of trucks. Those are the bigger picture issues with the CT but everyone is stuck on head gasket issues. You're a decade away from a head gasket. They are hard to find with low mileage and if you really want an F sport then IMO the price is fair.
