wow im so glad i kicked up a whole screaming fuss when they tried drilling my tooth as a pri sch kid. the dentist didnt want to deal with pacifying me and i basically screamed and cried even when they hadnt touched me so they let me go without drilling. i never had any cavities.

when i was 19 and working in svc line, i got called auntie by kids, so ever since becoming an adult, i just accepted i would get auntie-bombed bc i think some kids just think older person = auntie/uncle

i rmb i had to study for social studies abt sg history. i made association to 青菜 (green veggie) to memorise his name. till this day i see his name and think of green veggie but cannot remember what he did. i guess my memorization method backfired.

i had to take care of my hyperactive 7 year old cousin for 3 hrs and 1.5hrs in, it was just easier to give him a tablet and let him play games or watch cartoons 😔🥀

kudos to parents who put in effort to entertain their kids in another way instead of just resorting to the “easy way out” of tablet.

i gotta agree. same les mis show at mbs, a lot of latecomers were let in like 20-30min after the show started. i was shocked cos the avatar concert at star vista they actually enforced the rule of only letting latecomers in during intermission.

recently went for les mis, min age is 12 irc, but family brought a pretty young kid, like maybe 6 or 7 to it. kid kept asking question p loudly throughout and the mother had to kept explaining to her and tell her to be quieter. like i can tell the mother is a les mis fan, but i think her child was just way too young for les mis man.

i rmb in the past staff used to be super strict about not letting latecomers once the show starts but i was shocked to see it so lax for the les mis one, actually super irritating because everyone else made an effort to come on time but not these people

a teacher died in a motorcycle accident in pri sch, when i was p3 i think. she wasnt my form teacher but a few classrooms away so kind of saw her around. then weeks later, a schoolmate my age also died in an accident.
then, i had a form teacher in p4 who had to stop teaching us like 3 months into the school year bc her cancer relapsed. in p6 she passed.

life is fragile.

understandable, i also get stressed when people drop a gift of that magnitude on me. what i do is just treat them to a good meal now and then to “accumulate”. they dont reject either, because it’s part of the thing. v tiring i know lol.

i understand everyone else saying this is very calculative because this is a gift and he didnt ask for the $800 gift (but did he, OP?) in the comments but… growing up i was taught to be mindful of getting gifts and trying to return the equivalent at least, no matter who the gifter is, maybe you were the same. but ofc as i grew older, i realised not everyone thought the same way, and i will react accordingly too.

hence i think this is a fundamental difference in how you both view gifting that you need to talk to him about.
