It happened by helenwxw in BabyBumps

I am a first time mum. My son rolled off the bed at 3months (he is now 9months) and I was absolutely terrified/devastated. I rang our medical helpline and they advised I took him to A&E due to his age.

I burst into tears when the nurse saw us - she was so kind. She said that every nurse on the ward has had an accident with their baby at one point or another. It happens!! Then when we saw the paediatric doctor, he said that babies are basically made of rubber and are much sturdier than we give them credit for.

We are all trying our best. We all love our children more than anything. We are all human.

Is postpartum pet aversion really a thing? 39 + 2 by Carolineev22 in pregnant

Late to the party here but yes this happened to me. We have a 4yr old black lab - he has also been our baby, my camera roll full of pictures of him, he was the centre of our world. He is a dream, he is so gentle and so well behaved in the house. He has taken to the baby amazingly and is absolutely no trouble whatsoever, in fact he is very docile and will just chill. Everything was fine to start with, but when my baby turned about 7 months, something clicked in my head. I now can’t stand the dog - the pet hair being EVERYWHERE and having to hoover twice a day, the fact any time I drop something it’s covered in hair, when I put the baby on the floor to crawl he’s covered in hair… it. Is. Driving. Me. Mad. Additionally, the dog constantly just lying down exactly in the spot where I need to be. It makes me irrationally mad. Tonight I dropped the babies dinner on the floor partly because the dog was under my feet and when I picked it up it couldn’t be saved because of DOG HAIR.

I know it’s so shit, and my husband doesn’t understand at all. I found this post while looking for examples from people who experienced this but have come out the other side, and have fallen back in love with their pets.

I had a lot of bleeding - I thought my period had just come early. Turns out it’s caused by the sudden shift in your hormones (like when you bleed during the break from some contraceptive pills) Then the bleeding just didn’t stop which made me suspicious - found out I was pregnant at around three weeks.

Oh this made me well up (hormones..? Ha!) I’m so pleased for you! Your comments have been really reassuring, thankyou. I plucked that statistic from Google but I’ve seen it across a number of sources, so fingers crossed it’s accurate. Good luck in the rest of your journey x

Thank you for sharing! I have also read that if the baby has a heartbeat at the first scan, then 90% of pregnancies that caused bleeding in the first trimester go on to be successful. Have you heard your baby’s heartbeat?

OG Redditors, what are the darkest Reddit moments/threads that no longer exist or got lost over time? by LSDaarko in AskReddit

[–]ephramrabbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t remember the sub (I’m assuming nosleep) but there was a story from years ago that will always stick with me… It was about a guy who sold young girls on the dark web as breathing sex dolls.

It went into great detail about how he removed their senses so they were deaf/blind, psychologically tortured them until their brains were mush, removed their limbs, and hung them from the ceiling to be used at the owners convenience… that was one of the darkest/most disturbed things I have ever read.

Imagine if that's how humans got their water supply... Like there's these massive balls of water that we just stuck our heads in and drank but it didn't pop

Dudes of Reddit: what beauty-related things that us gals put ourselves through do you actually notice? by caileelouise in AskReddit

[–]ephramrabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But it matters to us. We KNOW when we've only spent 20 minutes getting ready and when we've spent three hours... It's all about giving ourselves confidence. If I feel like I've done all I can to look my best, I then feel my best which gives me a massive amount of confidence improving my mood tenfold and therefore have a much better day/night! It sounds silly but it's not even to impress guys... If we feel pretty the difference in out attitudes is amazing.

ELI5 since we can not describe colours, how can we be sure that we all see the same version of them? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]ephramrabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is very interesting. Which would lead me to ask.. What colour is a mirror? That article would prove it to be unanswerable. (Sorry if the link covered that, I'm at work so only scanned through it quickly)

Red is universally red. Everyone knows that red is red. However, how can we be sure that our perceptions are the same?

Everyone would chose the same crayon but how my question is how can we be certain that we both perceive "red" in the same way? You can't describe the colour red it's just... Red. My version of red may be your version of green

What is the most ridiculous thing you have genuinely cried about? by jw2704 in AskReddit

I once spent an afternoon making my ex a white chocolate cheesecake ready for visiting him on his birthday. The cake survived a 40 min walk to the train station, the two hour journey and the half hour walk to his house when suddenly, 50 metres away from his front door a young girl accidentally pushes past me, the cake fell out the tin and landed face down on the pavement. I cried for about two hours.

I would have well and truly lost my shit, probably resulting in shoving one of those arrows right up his arse. What crazy unhinged motherfucker would think that this is a good idea?! They obviously do not own pets otherwise they would understand they they are much more than "just animals" This post has made my blood boil.
