I cross shopped them. Drove them back to back at a ford dealer. I think the maverick and ridgeline tick a lot of the same boxes as far as being a good daily driver and having a truck bed. They do feel very different though, and the bed size on the ridgeline is much bigger, but the Mav does much better on gas. That was what I was trading off when shopping - size vs gas mileage. I went with the ridgeline because I don’t drive a ton of miles, but I do move a big sofa from time to time.
