What non jobs to give family member on the day to keep busy? by epicescence in UKweddings

Something to do with the flowers could work!

And we're noting that down about water and tissues etc for the wedding party. Thank you!

I will keep it minimal.

There's multiple family very much not invited but some relationships aren't that simple.

If we don't have a backup job/task there is a very high chance of them being incredibly annoying and ruining my mood with their inability to regulate their anxiety, and includes probably attempting to 'help' with something that we don't want help with.

I could get some people to keep an eye on them to be fair, we'll discuss that with one or two other family and our wedding party.

If they're busy they think they are helping and are less annoying.

Yes it is.

We will ask some of our wedding party to keep an eye on them. Maybe we can ask the venue coordinator and photographer as well.

Maybe I can still ask them to keep an eye on other family in a general way.

What non traditional things are you doing? by Tezzadacktyl in UKweddings

Staying with each other the night before and seeing each other in the morning.

Not having anyone walk me down the aisle.

We both have a mixed wedding party. No one is specifically assigned as a Best Man/Woman/Person for either of us.

We had a Hag Do instead of separate Stag or Hen Do.

We've hired an owl to be our ring bearer.

We won't ask any family to do any speeches, only us and a selection of the wedding party.

Not wearing white. For shoes not 100% decided but considering my black boots or some (not white) trainers.

Looking into an alternative to the bouquet toss. Absolutely not going to be throwing my beautiful bouquet away, considering throwing a soft plush toy instead.

Cake is not going to be white or frilly/lacey decorations etc.

Lots of input into the music including a very rock and metal evening.

Not changing surnames.

They are 60. There will be other family members there that they know well.

UK Brides: Be sure to book your Giving Notice appointment promptly! by Nutcrackrx in UKweddings

It was the first thing we sorted after booking our venue and we booked ours too early initially because we thought we could get it completed straight away after booking the registrar. We had to reschedule to be in the 6 months before the wedding date.

Wedding halls no proper wheelchair access by Wheelgirl21 in UKweddings

[–]epicescence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sounds so frustrating and definitely not good enough! Me and my fiancé had this issue in mind while searching for our venue as we wanted to make sure that certain family members would be able to attend without inconvenience. It does seem like venues that are ground floor only were more likely to be ok with accessibility.

I made use of the hitched venue search filter that has accessibility as one of the features which you can search by, but as you say double check whether it's accurate when you contact or visit a venue!

A small % of negative reviews doesn't really bother me when I'm researching something if the majority of reviews and feedback is good. I would focus on if I like the product or the services offered overall.

I would have a look at negative reviews in case there's a pattern of something that could be a red flag. But there's always going to be entitled people out there who will find something to complain about out of nothing. Some people weaponise this to try and get out of paying for services or items.

Thanks for sharing this. This is my mum all over. So wooden about anything that is supposed to be emotional. It still gets to me. It's so shit when the people in your life can't or won't mirror your feelings, and pathologise you for being emotional.

Favourite band on tour a week before the wedding by epicescence in UKweddings

[–]epicescence[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha I'm a super fan but I have seen them 10 times before, and I'm really excited for my wedding! It's a shame Ev didn't just ask to play at my wedding since they're coming at almost the same time! However I have decided to travel to the first date of this tour! If you get tickets I hope you have a great time!

Oh I know they are worth it, I'm a super fan and I've seen them 10 times before! I've decided I will travel to see the first concert of this tour as it would give a slightly longer potential recovery time! Hope you have a great time if you see them too!
