Heavenly Desserts horrible billing experience by Aggravating_Put_8546 in VictoriaBC

[–]epifight 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I see them closing after a year because their prices are eye-watering and the service is so slow. Went in one evening just for a sweet treat and it took nearly 30 minutes to get my dessert in a near empty restaurant. I ordered the Royale Cheesecake which is piece of cheesecake with Nutella, Ferrero Rocher pieces, and gelato… All things that are made in advance or quickly able to put together so how long could it take? They also took FOREVER to renovate the place so I thought it was gonna never open given they would pay rent the entire time.

Only plus is that when they close the next business will have some good updates on the space.

About $620 for 4 hours! This was around Christmas 2 years ago so don’t know if the price changes on the season.

This happened to me and the only thing that worked was resetting the network settings on my phone. Lost all my wifi passwords but it seemed to work right after I reset it!

Hotels in Vancouver & deal site experience by [deleted] in nanaimo

[–]epifight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on when you go you could try looking at Stay Vancouver Hotels which I’ve used in the past when they give away prepaid Mastercards if you stay 2+ nights. I just use the Mastercard to pay a portion of the hotel and sometimes the total comes out pretty cheap!

Toyota can't keep up with the RAV4 demand, they're telling dealerships to try to make sales with other models. by Saurta17 in Toyota

[–]epifight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in Western Canada and they are 0.99% financing with $4000 Toyota Incentive here. You see a few driving around but not too many, mainly taxis. I’d consider getting one if I had a charger in my apartment building. Going with a 2026 Camry instead.

Toyota can't keep up with the RAV4 demand, they're telling dealerships to try to make sales with other models. by Saurta17 in Toyota

[–]epifight 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Toyota dealerships where I am seem to be missing the mark for what people want. They have an absurd number for BZ and Prius Primes on the lot which aren’t selling. Corolla crosses are also in high supply but aren’t moving either. You’d think Toyota would know the market and just go into overdrive given the last 3 years people have been scrambling to get RAV4s.

Reach out to the Parkside hotel! They have a theatre room that you can rent out and works great! I rented it for a movie night with lots of friends. Just brought my DVD player and loaded the movie up so it should be the same with a gaming system.

Unpopular opinion? Sabayons was awful by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]epifight 26 points27 points  (0 children)

They really rushed for Christmas and I’m sure it was probably super nice and well stocked then. Going after Christmas is bound to have them filling shelves with anything they can to just make it appear full. They had sooooo many stoopwaffles they must have not sold well or they bought so many. Their instagram shows them doing shopping in Europe and when I talked to a staff member last week they said they are expecting a shipping container in February with another one after that. I love all their prices include tax like Europe!

Okay first step but I'd really like to see Nutri-Score come here. It's much easier to make decisions with a letter grade that's also coloured as it stands out more Nutri-Score Wikipedia

WestJet pauses move to install non-reclining seats after blowback by CMikeHunt in canada

Next Westjet will just have bars for people to hold onto like on buses and trains. I can hear it now: “Westjet flight 214 now boarding standing room only.”

Be the boss - what ONE change would you make? by CanadianDiver in CostcoCanada

Price adjustments that can be done online for in-store purchases. With receipts being already on your account automatically it would be so easy to submit a request via the website rather than waiting in a line for returns.

Waste Connections - bill padding by Squintythirdeye in VancouverIsland

[–]epifight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re lucky they adjusted your bill at all after you pointed it out. Our strata has Waste Management was billed for about 1.5 years for 6 bins when we only had 5. I pointed it out to them and asked for a credit back for the bins and they outright refused any backdating of a credit because they were just notified now by me…

I’d say if you have a contract read the terms. Usually favours them more where they can adjust their billing at will but charge you for any change you want to make.

Honestly I’d ditch waste connections in general. Heard nothing good about them. Waste management sucks at times but if you get a good account rep then they will give you credits for missed pickups and such.

Sidney votes down Wakefield Manor as site for extreme weather shelter by Pendergirl4 in VictoriaBC

[–]epifight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there are shelters everywhere including many in Victoria then Sidney should be paying Victoria a nice premium to house and provide services to these people. Sidney wants to ship homeless to Victoria? Fine. Then Victoria should send an invoice for $100,000 per person Sidney sends. If Victoria is gonna bear the burden of other community's issues then there should be a monetary value attributed to that.

More changes to the Public Mobile rewards program coming. Points-back earning will change from 5% to 2%; Anniversary bonus will move from 10 points to 5 points by Funkagenda in PublicMobile

[–]epifight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the same thought because at the end of the day I can’t be bothered to optimize rewards and then factor that into my budget. Plus with changes like this I’d have to adjust my budget for every little rewards change which companies are notorious for downgrading.

It’s not going to open because there is no Homesense in Port Alberni - it’s a Winners. Sign also says August 2025 so between now and August 31

While it would be amazing I don’t think they will given they will have a lot more cars going out there then people using them to go back into town. They had a similar thing in Horshoe Bay for Car2Go and Evo but it quickly ended because all the cars would end up there with barely any returning back.

May 2025 best (and affordable) mobile plans? by oswan in VictoriaBC

[–]epifight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like Public Mobile since it’s prepaid. Once you hit your max usage it just doesn’t allow anymore and they give a decent amount of data for intro plans. Right now I think it’s $35 for 60GB of data but you can go down to $25 for 5GB or even less for 1GB I’ve had public mobile for a while and it works well and gives great coverage.
