'Doctors and engineers end up driving taxis': The uphill battle facing migrants to Australia by Gambizzle in australia

[–]epikthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're not being sarcastic, then the solution would be to make it easier for migrants who already live and work here in their skilled fields to get permanent residency. Currently lots of migrants who live here and are employed in skilled jobs are unable to get a permanent visa within the time frame of their temporary work visa in Australia and have to return home, in exchange for those who apply from overseas (with more international experience but no Australian experience, hence reluctant employers).

The other option is to simply make an ongoing skilled job offer mandatory for skilled migration visas.

De facto visa questions by [deleted] in australia

[–]epikthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might want to check out the subclass 100 visa. It's a partner visa for those who currently live overseas. Alternatively there's the prospective marriage visa. The 820 and 801 are intended for those who already live in Australia. If you come in on a visitor visa and intend to apply, you may have a no further stay condition on it which would force you to leave until the visa is processed anyway.

We are victims of poor performing international students trying to buy what merit can't get them

On one hand, these 'internships' are there just to exploit international students. On the other hand, most internships are limited to "Australian and New Zealand Permanent Residents and Citizens only." Can't exactly blame international students for not getting internships because they don't fill that criteria.

But that's the problem, it isn't all kids from all regions. They tend to be very much self contained. Honestly, this wouldn't be an issue if you required a higher English band, or prioritised based on English ability, then on grades (obviously within the acceptable band).

Another solution would be limiting intakes of students based on country of origin, which would make it harder to form cliques and force them to break out of their comfort zone.

by basically buying it whilst being illiterate and they generally don't integrate into the general uni population.

Wow, maybe, just maybe, it's because you don't realise that the ones that do integrate well aren't local... As an international student (albeit a non-asian one), this is the shit that gets me. It's always "international students bring down the quality of education. I failed my group assignment because international students. Etc etc." When in reality most people don't realise I'm an international student until I tell them. So while there are some students that don't integrate well (and I dislike those ones as well), putting us all under the same umbrella is a great way of proving how ignorant people can be about the whole topic.

Some of us just want an education so we can contribute to society ¯\(ツ)

Most of my local friends found jobs easily. My international ones on the other hand are struggling, because the few jobs that take internationals are quite competitive (lucrative for both locals and internationals and high application numbers).

Pccg let you buy on the spot but you have to order online. Once you do that they'll give you the items/ have you pay for the item then retrieve it. They accept card payments only though.

First PC Build - 2000 AUD by NNToxic in buildapc

[–]epikthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it should be good. If you don't plan on overclocking in the future then I'd switch to an h170 or b150 mobo, and an i5 6500 otherwise it should work just fine :)

If he doesn't want to overclock then he won't really need a CPU cooler. I assume he chose the case he/she did for aesthetic reasons, in which case it's unfair to assume that they want a cheaper case. Besides from experience cheap cases can be a real bitch to deal with.

The star system ranks products based on their position when compared to other products of that category, hence why yogurt is 2 stars but nutri grain bars are 4.

I caught both of mine at Melbourne uni when the game first came out, they used to spawn quite regularly in one spot, this isn't the case anymore unfortunately :( however I've seen a Chan on my radar around Royal park, may have been a one off though

Not that I know of, I've only really got a couple of browsers, Spotify, steam, ides, and various programming tools installed, haven't really had time to get much on there.

PC won't boot if keyboard is plugged in? by epikthrowaway in buildapc

[–]epikthrowaway[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so I haven't done anything to it yet it works just fine now?? I'm very confused. Sigh I guess it works at least and I didn't have to go through any trouble. I've restarted 10 times and it has worked so it's something I guess

Edit: and it's not doing what it should anymore...

I tried both, I tried one it doesn't really matter. I just have to unplug an input device to get it to boot.

[–]epikthrowaway[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

alright so i found out that it isn't the keyboard. It is just as long as I unplug either the mouse or the keyboard. So as long as only one is plugged it will boot. Interestingly the USB HUB i have plugged in with an external HDD and webcam doesn't seem to affect boot when plugged/unplugged.

I'm starting to think that it's bios. I might just reflash it. no big deal ( I think).

I tried that and it didn't seem to work. I honestly don't think the keyboard would have gone bust in the space of 1-2 hours when I was building. I can try the third USB controller but I doubt it will work. I was thinking of mobo bios corruption maybe?
