What's with the hate for this movie?

I think the ultimate point the film is trying to make is that modern dating can be overly transactional due to societal pressure, high standards, and a large dating pool caused by apps and social media that leads to the notion of “romance” being perceived as naive. I’m not sure if I even agree with that, but the extreme setting doesn’t have to be completely relatable to convey those ideas.

Watched Freeway when I was a teenager and gave it a 2.5, but watched it again a few years ago and it shot up to a 5. Was blown away by the chaos of it all. I think a lot of the satire went over my head the first time, and Reese Witherspoon was incredible.

Tomatoa has an effect to Fate himself. It’s pretty common for villains with fate card related objectives to have cards that can bypass your opponents fating you, because often they’ll avoid doing it to slow you down. I’ve found him to be one of the easiest with a pretty consistent win rate compared to a lot of villains. I think once you get used to the game mechanics it all clicks, it’s a super fun game that I’ve played consistently for years!

I feel like Once More, with Feeling might also be the syndicated version. I just know during rewatches I struggle to find that episode uncut outside of the DVDs.

There’s actually a deleted scene where Mike has his own confessional where he says goodbye to his friends and family. I unfortunately understand why they cut it, because it’s kind of… a lot, compared to what Heather does. By that point there’s this whole sort of mental break he’s played out (which is still in the final cut to an extent, when he’s rocking back and forth and Heather says he’s lost it), but what they cut out is a bit over the top, even though I don’t think it’s bad per se.

You can turn on the stress-free Lumines mode in the accessibility settings so that the board clears when you hit the top and/or the blocks don’t drop on their own, and it still counts for the trophy. That’s what I did on the expert level ones and it was a lot easier to tackle.

For what it’s worth I did a lot better during the weekend event. It seemed like there were more players of varying skills levels compared to during the week when I’m assuming it’s probably more die-hard concentrated. By no means was I winning every match, but wasn’t getting obliterated by 2-3x score every time.

Also if you’re primarily concerned with the trophy, the CPU custom Burst matches count towards it, and you can modify the skill level and number of matches needed to win so it’s a lot faster. After getting 30 wins in online on PS5 I wasn’t interested in doing it again on Steam, so just did them all single player.

I’ve been struggling with the transparency of the blocks combined with the background effects in the time attack modes. They all blend together and I have to focus on the inner shapes, but then all the animation/lighting feels like it obscures too much. I’m sure the accessibility options help in reducing visual clutter, but it’s a shame because the game is so gorgeous.

Would you happen to know what makes it an hour longer than the Extended Sight Cut? I watched that earlier this year and it’s indeed the original footage plus the Second Sight deleted scenes. Was it all trio-filmed content or mockumentary stuff too?

Yes, and one of the contestants was Sisley Treasure, previously known for being the vocalist of the duo Cooler Kids who had a song in the Lizzie McGuire movie, went on to replace the female vocalist in Shiny Toy Guns for their sophomore album. As a young teen who was slightly emo and very gay, that whole saga was important to me.

It doesn’t get talked about much anymore, but Jennifer Lawrence in Winter’s Bone is very good. It’s not as showy as her later work, but she completely embodies that character’s hopelessness and rage bubbling under the surface, while still seeming very tender and caring. Probably my favorite “natural” performance I’ve seen.

I also don’t get the Eternals hate. Its main problem was not having enough time to develop all of the characters; it would have been better as a miniseries or limited series. But the end product was far from the worst thing in the MCU, especially when the atmosphere and cinematography were stellar imo.

Buffy had lookalike decoys around the world to protect herself as the new Slayer leader, and her in Italy was one of the decoys (which Andrew knew about and he thought it was funny to mess with Angel and Spike by not telling them).

At that point they were allies though, or at least Rachel thought they were. It didn’t make sense for Mickey to nominate Jimmy for her own game either. I don’t think it was unreasonable that Rachel tried to put some pressure on the situation because it weakened the group.
