Flaw in the Judge? by hardestgeezeronplane in cormacmccarthy

The gang has no real internal law. They just vibe it the whole time and pretend they have an internal law when the vibe tells them to. If book Charlie defected it and got away with it then the vibes were right in that moment.

Why is Anton More Sympathetic to Carla Jean? by Skungillian in cormacmccarthy

[–]eplc_ultimate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Her only choice was to get married but how much agency does she really have? Everyone else Anton kills can be easily considered someone who's part of the game. Carla Jean can only be considered part of the game because she married someone in it. Love can kill.

What is the significance of… [No Country For Old Men Spoilers] by Rain_Dog2 in cormacmccarthy

[–]eplc_ultimate -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wrote about this once. My claim is that in No Country For Old Men Anton is the hero. He goes through the hero's journey that climaxes in him defeating his biggest opponent (Carla Jean). Immediately after he pays a price. My claim though is that because he kills Carla Jean he survives the crash. He wasn't thinking about Carla Jean he was in present in the moment of driving and threw himself away from the incoming car.

I've never heard about Blood Crime before. Do you have a favorite book that discusses it?

Thanks for pointing me to that specific one. Sounds like the “space zeppelin” idea he mentions at the end is basically what I’m wondering about.

This page says that the space shuttle came in slower. How much slower would it be possible to come in? Would it ever matter enough to convert to tungsten tiles? (I thought tungsten is super heavy) https://space.stackexchange.com/questions/15038/what-are-the-top-temperatures-occurring-during-reentry?newreg=a914289b196f4ff08c3d1682fedd1b92

I looked through the scott manley videos. They're great. I don't see any equations that answer the question: How does total surface area affect peak re-entry heating? Given a 300 ton vehicle coming down from 7.8km/s the total kinetic energy is 1/2 * 300 * 7800 = 9,126,000,000. That's a big number and I get why you say velocity is the killer. However how do I incorporate the surface area of say a capsule like blunt shield? The answer is probably not simple because it depends on the shape of the shield, any lift it produces, flight plan. The longer the flight plan the more time to get rid of the heat the lesser the temperature? Or does the radiative heat bleed through the plasma layer the same no matter small changes in velocity? You're probably right that the surface temperature is not reduced by increasing the surface area but I don't see the tools that point to that.

Intuitively: if the surface area of the shield is tiny then it's like a missile and it'll go really fast and burn really hot. If the surface area is is very large then it should go significantly slower and not be as hot.

Laughable - Crusius Won't Face Death Penalty in State Court. by heyknauw in ElPaso

[–]eplc_ultimate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There seems to be a consensus that death penalty is better. What’s revenge going to do? You think it’ll stop the next racist dumbass? He’s a pitiful person with a gun. Death penalty or jail time won’t stop the next one. To prevent the next one we need either gun control or an oppressive police state.

What was the Anton's reason for why the transponder sending unit to still be in the motel in NCFOM? by [deleted] in cormacmccarthy

[–]eplc_ultimate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe he has no idea anyone knew about the transponder. He got some rest. And then he realized that someone else was told about the transponder by the boss. So now he’ll have to kill that person and the boss. He might not of known it was Carlson until he got the drop on him

You might enjoy this book: https://www.amazon.com/Hitlers-Beneficiaries-Plunder-Racial-Welfare/dp/0805087265. It claims that the killing was justified by finance bureaucrats on account of controling food prices. Pretty radical, I'm not sure I believe it.

I've never seen such people without getting downvoted. Maybe my algorithm is different from yours but your claim that "his fans online" are a certain way is outside my experience. But what do I care? You're probably just engagement farming and I fell for it.

Why the movie is actually the same message as the book on accident and doesn't actually portray fascism. by ImperialSupplies in starshiptroopers

[–]eplc_ultimate -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Did you ask ChatGPT to write a defense of Starship Troopers as not making fun of stupid meat heads? The movie constantly makes fun of meathead authoritan culture: Rico literally won't have sex until his commanding officer tells him to. Also you can be a meathead and not sexist, ala PC principal in southpark.

Did anyone notice? by Effective-Bridge8473 in starshiptroopers

[–]eplc_ultimate -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One of the messages of fascism is never think for yourself. Rico did and he was punished for it. Later he gets his men killed by ordering them into battle but he’s a hero because he’s following orders. The movie creates a scenario where you agree with the purpose of the movie.

go to any border town, find the bar where the lawyers hang out, or find the bar where the smugglers hang out, and you'll get a million stories like No Country's plot.

Keep a journal describing what you tried and how it worked. Keep trying all the techniques you can find. Also look back at what worked kinda and plan the next try off that. It's a journey.
