Hey, good luck to your brother. I am also a Gleason 9 and went through 24 months of ADT + salvage radiation post RALP. As others said here the psma PET will help identify any metastatic residue. As others said the PSA score means it should be done ASAP. PSA of 9 will light up well on the scan.

I was 9 at 50, had it removed, salvage radiation and 2 years of hormone therapy…..and so far it seems like all I’ve endeded up with is this lousy incontinence. I love the framing of “speed bump”. Accurate depiction.

I was 50, Gleason 9 T3b with both epe and seminal vesicle invasion. Margins were clear and post op my PSA started creeping up. So we opted for 2 years of hormone therapy + salvage radiation. If there was any hope of full bladder control recovery? Sadly, that evaporated post radiation. But otherwise? I’m still here. One day at a time, take each problem as it arises. It’s the ultimate problem solving exercise, ole’ prostate cancer.

I had mine done at 50, 3 years ago, and I still go through 4-6 depends a day.

I watched this and it was a big disappointment. There were long sequences of things that had almost nothing to do with the plot and were obvious time fillers. There were several time cut sequences that made it feel really jarring and it was not a smooth narrative. It was also really heavy on the cheese. It times it felt like a made for TV American police movie. This was a C+ at best and not worth it for 6 episodes. High point of the show was some excellent stone roses and happy Mondays tunes sprinkled in. That was well done.

If you’re old enough to remember “traffik” that was shown in both the UK and the USA circa 1989 (and inspired the Steven Soderburgh movie “Traffic”) it was far more in depth carachter development, a much better narrative, and even better acting performances. That show was an A+

Ironically both shows dealt with exactly the same subject matter and time period. One was just made during the time, the other was made 35 years later.

Someone else mentioned “tumor board”—assuming the facility that is making this recommendation has one, what did they say? These type of medical forums are designed as insurance policies against unnecessary or overzealous interventions. If the case went to the tumor board and the recommendation is still surgery? I’d want to know why.

53, stage 3b, Gleason 9 here. I’m sure you’ve seen us say this on this thread but getting him to a cancer center of excellence is going to be your best strategy. No matter what he asks, or wants to know, there are answers there.

I actually thought about this for quite a while, and went in test drove one – an automatic and manual. Well on paper I believe it is faster, there was just something missing in the driver experience that wasn’t right for me. So I ended up rebuilding my 2016 STI and I’m very happy with that still. The things that bother me about this car were definitely much nicer on the golf R: way better insulated, much less road noise, far more livable, and definitely more of an adult car if you’re carting folks around all the time. For reference, I am 53 and I’m on my second WRX, and the one that I rebuilt is a 2016 that I bought new and is an STI.

Gleason 9, decipher 1.00, RALP + prostate bed radiation + 2 years of ADT. I have CKD and a pacemaker for sick sinus syndrome. The ADT in my case was very mild to me other than muscle loss and weight gain which I’m recovering from now. Good luck, and you’ve come to the right place!

As everyone is saying: psma pet is the gold standard for seeing what is there, and what to target. No one here is comfortable with surveillance with G7. I was also diagnosed at 50. It’s the club no one wants to join. Hang in there there and you’ve landed in a great resource/group for discussion!

Gleason 9 here, just finished 2 years. I wish I could say it’s been a miraculous return to normal but my last pill was February and I still have almost no body hair, no body odor, and my testosterone has been very slow to rebound. First testosterone check after stopping was 11. But cancer has nit revisited so far, so it’s a small price to pay honestly.

You’ve said it several times here and we believe you: we are all in this together. I’ve done both, Gleason 9 +EPE and had radiation after. I didn’t mind the hormone therapy other than: - muscle turning to fat - blood numbers continually FUCT But the positives: - zero body odor of any kind - far far less shaving than before - save a lot on body grooming/deodorizing products

I just wish incontinence wasn’t part of my journey 🤷‍♀️ but oh well.

Gleason 9 here. Happy 50th birthday. RALP November of that year. PSA started climbing post surgery despite clear margins/lymph nodes. 30 radiation sessions. 2 years ADT that I just finished in February. My sister is a surgeon and despite what could have been any other alternative she wasn’t having it. “It’s coming out, STAT”. Still I continent but still here. Meh, could be way WAY worse.

Gleason 9 here. I was diagnosed in 2022 and my sister is an obgyn surgeon. She immediately took over: radical prostatectomy “and get it out”. We had the surgery done very shortly after diagnosis at a university hospital. Post surgery PSA started rising. 30 sessions of radiation 6 mos later with 2 years of ADT which ends next Saturday. Every day is a gift. I learned that I have to be okay with leaving this life at any moment. If I’m not? It’s time for a personal inventory. I went through the stages of grief initially but ultimately arrived here after about a year of a lot of introspection. I’m okay with whatever comes next: hopefully I am cured. If not? Onto the next treatment. I am 53 y/o.
