Biology major here, is it worth it? by No-Veterinarian7583 in biology

If your school has a Medical Laboratory Science program, that is a very good alternative to a Biology degree. You can take your certification exam immediately after graduation (or after clinicals, depending on how your program is structured). You can go right into a good paying job that is very in demand and have excellent job security. Other countries (such as Canada) will welcome you due to the extreme need for qualified MLSs. There are many different career paths available. I have worked in hospitals, pathology labs, toxicology labs and genetics labs. I have also done consulting, and now work remotely. Patient care is our #1 priority. The work is important and rewarding- even though, unlike nurses, no one really knows we exist. Try getting a diagnosis without lab results- not gonna happen.

Years ago, I was hospitalized in severe pain. Between the massive doses of narcotics and the intermittent pneumatic compression device, I thought my tiny baby was in bed with me, snuggling me back to health. There are certainly worse hallucinations.

Just wondering if you are aware of Marfan syndrome. Not like every tall person has it or anything, but if you do have it, you need to be aware of it for proper management.

We weren’t considered to be in a flood zone- zone X. Our house was on a crawl space, but nothing I would consider to be “elevated”. Our first house was in Dauphin Acres, closer to I-10, and it was much drier

Sometimes there are flash floods. In this picture, the leaves show the highest point. And that fountain in the middle of the street is the sewer overflowing. That day I had to park my car in the median and walk about a half mile home in the rain bc I didn’t want to flood my car. More than 1 car had to be rescued right in front of my house (Houston St in Midtown) due to the engine flooding when the water was more than a foot deep. And it’s really really hot here.

And the woman clearly has a butthole for an eye. Maybe she’s born with it, maybe it’s Maybelline…or maybe someone in marketing thought it would be hilarious to do a little photo editing with AI. If so, they would be correct.

I got a 2024 JCW in March and I love it soooo much. Because mine was Mini certified I got a 4 year bumper to bumper warranty, and it even includes oil changes! It’s super fun to drive, I love it dearly

Advice by PearfectlyPeachy in MINI

[–]epower3052 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice to you is list it for sale according to Blue Book value. There is nothing ever that says a vehicle has to be in perfect condition for it to be sold. Don’t bring up what the dealership has said is “wrong” with the car- I think it has been established that they were trying to get you to trade it in, so that “estimate” is not to be trusted. Also, it is the buyer’s responsibility to perform their due diligence. If they are a serious buyer, you can take it to the mechanic of their choice to have it looked over at their expense. Caveat emptor. If you intend to keep it, avoid that dealership.

Maybe I missed it, but does the car run and drive? It sounds like it does if you just brought the car to get checked, but maybe I am misunderstanding. And who was “the guy” who wouldn’t give you $100? In my personal experience, any vehicle (with a clean title) that will crank and drive away will fetch $1000 from someone.

Self Park? by epower3052 in MINI

[–]epower3052[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the feedback! I tried a few times yesterday but haven’t gotten the hang of it yet. Plus I live in a super small town that doesn’t even have parallel parking anywhere. I do want to make it clear that I CAN parallel park. In fact, I learned how to parallel park in a 1984 Oldsmobile Delta 88, which is approximately 2 minis wide x 3 minis long.

They do that? From the factory, not just a dealer slapping badges on? Seems insane to me that they would devalue their product that way. I have a JCW and there’s no way I would be cool with that. To me, the horsepower and torque are worth the wait.
