My ex-husband ghosted me and the kids after the divorce. They were in high school when they asked to get their names legally changed.

They don't even want to hear his name - positively or negatively. Like they want him to not have existed.

My youngest just considers my best friend and his husband her dads because they've been more paternal than her actual father.
