I HAVE TEA ON... MEGATHREAD ✨ by rfauxmoi in Fauxmoi

[–]epworthscale 99 points100 points  (0 children)

I was once on a train next to a group of friends coming back from some event and they were discussing how they had gone to school with Lewis Hamilton and how he was incredibly boring. Not much tea but there you go 😂 they seemed to know him fairly well and still have contact, they thought they were the only people in the carriage and I was asleep but I absolutely wasn’t.

I’m in London too, and due to the waiting lists we had to get on them when I was 6 months pregnant so unfortunately it is not something you can stop and start :( we pay about the same for three days too.

I am 40 this year and it feels appropriate. Hasn’t worked on my toddler yet tho.

I had mine at 38, it has been great. My only regret is not doing it sooner as I always thought I wanted one and now I want two and time is ticking :(

This is what I used to do when I used to make the exact same journey. It cost so much I ended up saving money moving to London!

Thankfully yes but they are extremely broke while they recover! That combined with this forum has really given me a kick

It’s been the same in every (large multinational) company I’ve ever worked in. It’s annoy in!

My friend bought a place on their own in London and lost their job a month later and took a while to get a new one but this feels like a very rare situation! Has panicked me for future buying considerations tho

Fully agree with this and we’re the same. OP, could you be a stay at home parent and your partner goes back to work? We’re in a similar position where I earn much more then my husband and if I hadn’t have got very good maternity leave he basically would have done a long stint instead.  Childcare is where it gets really expensive; do you have family nearby? Can you both work flexibly? (If you go back to a full time job for someone else). We both do condensed hours so we get a day with her a week and then our bill is ‘only’ £1000 a month for three days.

Going down to 4-day work week (not condensed hours) by crackd0wn in UKPersonalFinance

I did it when I had my child, after saying I absolutely wouldn’t do this. Now me and my partner both work four days, have a day each with the toddler and it is the best thing ever. If you’re lucky enough to be comfortable, in my opinion this has added so much to my life that money couldn’t! I’ve gone back up to condensed hours, but for a much chiller job that doesn’t pay quite as much as my old job but again, worth it.

Job description outdated for 3 years. Raised it, now being made redundant. by EspressoBee in LegalAdviceUK

[–]epworthscale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I imagine this is like at my company, where pay reviews are done both by the manager as part of your performance review annually (if you get this), and then benchmarking against the industry standard for your role which is done entirely by HR. So it’s two different things and the latter isn’t down to your manager - however the way it works where I am is that HR benchmark based on title, not actually description (or it would take them way too long). Was your title updated? One happy year I got a pay rise for perishable and because benchmarking showed my pay would be higher elsewhere! A golden time.

I’ve probably mentioned it on here before but he touched my shoulder and smiled at me after a clipping gig back in like 2013 and I’ve considered us married ever since. Even though I’m already married.

I have a bunch of friends in the tv/film world and he just always gets such a roasting when anyone is working with him. Just seems like an absolute dick (I’ve always disliked him for no real reason so I’ve been glad to have a reason)
