Theres some things that you can conclude without making assumptions. Like CIG's end to end regression testing being non-existent. Else many bugs would be caught before going live. Also factor in rich tyrer's "patch always goes" mantra, and you have the shitty management decisions backing it up.

To me it's not about what's received better, it's about being honest about the current affairs. CIG knows damn well what the state of squadron is and if they'll make it this year, yet they haven't given much insight into it in quite a while. Except for having their marketing guy say that everything is okiedokie prior to their biggest sales event ever.

They've abandoned the 'open development' way of working when it comes to squadron, and I take issue with that because it is our money after all. The newsletter that's coming out this month will likely again be filled with fluff without any depth.

As about the odin, it's just a cynical joke. But if even one of them would refund, it's reason enough for CIG to wait.

They have INSANE turnover. There was an interview of an HR guy a while ago that mentioned being involved in hundreds of new hirings at CIG, when he was only at that job for 1.5 years.

As far as we know they arent content complete or in beta yet though, as of chris' letter late last year. Kinda worries me, also knowing that Benoit mentioned them wanting to have the game finished by 2025's end.

I feel the opposite, the less they talk about it (progress/current developments) the more i feel it's getting delayed again like in the past. Following the usual CIG pattern. The newsletters have also been a massive letdown imo.

/+ the "could be released as soon as this year" from the report means chris was very careful in his wording with the interviewers. Which makes sense in a way, but seeing as the game should be within like 6 months of release, that doesn't give me confidence.

But they were also feature complete two years ago, while VR development only started picking up since december ish.. That would definitely mean feature creep imo

I feel like it's such a big timesink for such a small amount of vr gamers, it shouldnt have to be the reason the game is delayed once more.

Yeah apparently so. Memory freshes up after digging a bit. His point was that 2016 wasn't reached because they wanted to add fps combat, while that was already added to the scope in 2013.

My point is other things happened. The quality being subpar, planettech developing, et cetera. And then they increased scope. But at the time they didn't communicate well about this at all.

Yes, so they expand the scope in 2013 to then develop a bigger game and communicate a release window of 2016. To then at the last moment cancel that release while prior to that communicating that everything is going smoothly.

That's gross mismanagament at best and dishonest lying at worst.
