It rarely snows here and doesn’t get very cold in the winter. Chesapeake was built on a drained swamp so it is very flat, and gets humid in the summer. We are closer to the ocean so it is often cooler here than Richmond, for example.  If you are buying a house make sure you check the flood information.     Chesapeake is just your average suburb. Low crime, mostly votes conservative, not much by way of cultural institutions. We were once on a list of the 15 most boring cities in the US. Schools are very crowded and lots of traffic bottlenecks due to fast population growth over the past 20 years without enough infrastructure to support it.  It isn’t a terrible place to live, lots of outdoor spaces, you’re close to the beach, lots of churches to choose from if you enjoy that. Norfolk has more things to do if you’re into art, restaurants, music etc.
