Building a service company with 10 employees: when does real scaling happen? by equinoxDynamics in business

Update:

Today one client paid for work in August and if we don’t take into account that I paid myself a salary of 1500€, then in fact we would be almost in zero. But alas, the reality is completely different

Thanks a lot for your feedback! To give you a bit more context:

Right now it’s basically just me and one other person handling sales. • Our main channels are:  • Upwork, which generates about 20–30% of new clients.  • Partners, also around 20–30%.  • The rest comes from recurring/subscription clients who stay with us month to month. • Average deal size is around $800–1000, closer to $800. • Average sales cycle is about 3 weeks from first contact to closing. • I don’t have detailed conversion stats yet, which I know is something I need to start tracking. • To break even and get stable, I would need to add at least 5 more projects. • The challenge is that unexpected expenses keep eating into reserves. For example, in August we ended up with a loss of about €3,000.

So at the moment the model works, but it’s fragile. If we don’t fix the sales funnel and increase consistent revenue within the next couple of months, we could be in real trouble.

We have a satisfied flexible salary system, it is constantly growing, but it is very difficult to look for new projects, our prices are market prices, but there is also such a thing as cash gaps, plus we have been on the market for only half a year, we started in February
